Every time I mention to someone that when I play Touhou I use a controller (PS2 controller) I get called a faggot. Is this true? Why such keyboard elitism?

>> No.711031

I play touhou with an N64 controller.

>> No.711032

It's because you're a faggot.

My gaydar works over the interwebs.

Okay, I lol'd

>> No.711030

faggot

Actually I just got a PS2 -> USB adapter yesterday that I'm using for Melty/SWR/whatever else, I should try that.

Why? Before my adapter broke, I used my N64 controller a lot... mostly for netplaying SSB or MK64 but for other shit too. Only reason I wouldn't use it for Touhou is I don't play shmups.

>> No.711051

I like my 360 controller a lot. I've been using it on my PC more than on my 360.

>> No.711055

faggot.

Play with a flight joystick

PS2 controller = best console controller ever
Orginal sega controller being next on the tier list, followed by n64 controller

>> No.711075

If you are already used to using a controller, that is probably best. Keyboard allows for better control, though.

>> No.711076

>>711051

Me too, though to be fair I only even have one 360 game anyway.

>> No.711077

>>711051
I find Ikaruga almost unplayable on XBOX 360 because the D-pad is unresponsive and analog sticks don't seem precise enough. PS2 D-pad is superior.

I'm going to probably have to get an arcade stick for 360 to make it work well for shooters.

>> No.711087

Dual Shock is kind of blah for Touhoues. I ended up switching back to my ancient, cheap Saitek controller just because it has a decent d-pad (also I couldn't get SWR to accept input from my Dual Shock d-pad wtf).

Pope loev spring

>> No.711100

Gamepads are acceptable if you're using the digital pad. Using the analogue stick is asking for trouble, control wise.

>> No.711110

>>711077
The analog sticks make some parts of Ikaruga even easier, like stage 4's boss. It's almost like cheating.

>> No.711126

I don't know why people would call you a faggot.

I think it kind of sucks because I'm used to the keyboard, but PS2 controller doesn't mean you huff dongs.

>> No.711147

>>711110

Interesting. I'll probably try some more. It may be that I am trying to unlearn some Touhou habits at the same time. I consider the 360 controller to be good except that the d-pad is shit. I swore off the analog stick for shooters though because they suck for Touhou.

hnto? I find the small 6-button joypad much better. It just fits perfectly in the hand, and it's got some pointless buttons you can press while the game is loading.

>> No.711182

I find that only TH1-5 play nice with keyboard.

>> No.711197

I use a PS2 controller and I can do Lunatic.

So yeah.

>> No.711198

Has anyone managed to play with the mouse yet?

>> No.711203

I use PS2 PAD for touhou games, MAME, emus, etc, except for fighting games.

I use keyboard for fighting games, since I can crack out Hadokens and Shoryukens alot faster on keys, probably because of stepmania (I know, I fail..it was a long time ago!).

You are the worst kind of heathen. I am hating you so hard your hands should fall off.

Bitches don't know about my superior control.

>> No.711285

>>711259

If you have a decent keyboard where holding down multiple keys isn't such a huge problem, it's not so bad. The biggest problem I ran into when using a keyboard for playing fighters was that it was hard to get half circle motions to register consistantly, I'd usually miss the down input somehow, probably because I was doing it too fast.

Whats wrong with Stepmania? I still play it fairly regularly and pride myself for my skills in it. Trains the fingers too.

Don't ask me. Training your fingers and listening to music you like? What's to hate?

Funny thing is I play on my laptop where I can have only 2 keys pressed simultaneously. So no diagonal movement with shooting. Also sometimes my bomb doesn't execute because of it etc. But I got used to it by now.

>> No.711577

i find my ps3 controller works perfect for touhou , don't even need to worry about any adapters.

>> No.711600

I prefer a controller myself, but I use both.
