One day my cocoon might hatch, and I'll be able to go outside..

Nah, you'll be cooked alive and harvested for silk.

Creatures in cocoons are immature and undeveloped.

I thought /jp/ was more akin to bagworms, as some of those never leave their cases, get to be little girls forever (since the females are often neotenic) and have some of the highest ratios of virgin females in the animal kingdom - roughly 30% of the females never mate in some species (partially because mating also occurs within the female bagworm's case, so the winged male needs to insert his abdomen there, stretch it to lengths up to three times its original size, and manage to mate in this position. Males can and do die in the process of trying to extend their guts inside a case.) Those who manage to mate only do so once, so they also make good wives (except the fact that they don't eat during their "adult" life and die after laying eggs.)

So a bagworm girl would be a pale-skinned, wheelchair-bound (bagworms who do not leave their cases usually have atrophied limbs, so she'd probably have weak legs) shut-in who'd think that she'll never be a bride since she's too old, despite looking like a little girl ("older" female bagworms who don't mate fall off their cases to die, but old in this case is two weeks or so after eclosion.) I suppose she'd constantly stay inside her basement and spend her time playing VNs, hoping for a caring husband (or perhaps another little girl) to find and claim her, sharing her basement and gently embracing her every night while she sleeps.
