Autism: the VN

>> No.7078360

It's funny how the autistic girl (which is on the cover of the fucking game) is nothing but a filler character with its sole purpose to stretch out the game's length.

Other than that, decent game.

>> No.7078371

>>7078360
She isn't a filler, she is basically the symbol of the game.
Her having a pretty severe autism of course make it difficult for her to be considered a stand alone character but saying she is "filler" is fucking stupid.

You can use Aroe as something to realize how everyone is being affected by the situation and the way they are acting, etc.

She remains the same from the start until the end while everyone changes drastically. She shows how volatile the human nature is and how fragile people are. At least that's what I felt while reading it regarding her.

Setoguchi is the best writer in my opinion. Reading Swan Song and Carnival were amazing experience just for the insanity they manage to encompass within. (The latter is kinda crappy storywise though.)

The phrase "SWAN SONG" is a reference to an ancient belief that the Swan completely mute during its lifetime until the moment just before it dies, when it sings one beautiful song.

Aroe has autism, and she is unable to communicate for most of her life, but right before she dies (normal ending), she rebuilds the statue to the way it was before it was broken (that was her "swan song"). Aroe's death and rebuilding of the statue before it symbolized the last song that the swan sings before it dies.

>> No.7079653

That same can be said about Tsukasa's last moments in the normal end

>> No.7079658

>>7079453
I didn't find the "insanity" in Carnival to be that well portrayed, honestly the whole game felt like a joke to me.
Sayonara wo Oshiete is the one eroge that did insanity really well.

>> No.7079665

>>7079629
...that's not it at all, wow, that is terrible. The point was that instead of everything destroying everything, she built something instead, what did she build, Jesus, who is Jesus, I think you know pay the fuck attention. The reason it is called Swan Song is because everyone fucking dies, the "Swan song" is a myth, it doesn't actually happen. While playing the game you kept thinking it couldn't get any worse, but it ends with everyone fucking dead. The reason Aroe was important was because she couldn't "group" things together, a direct reference to the two different groups of people that fought each other, you are supposed to use her as a reference point as someone that did not get tainted by the armageddon, not "See her as a beautiful swan who does something amazing in the end" or whatever the fuck you are thinking, all she did was what she had been doing the entire fucking time. Fucking read it again.

>Denpa games are a subgenre of horror eroge, popularised by the 1996 Leaf game 'Shizuku' which also lent the genre its name. The typical model is a horror story where the catalyst for the events that occur are based on familiar people acting in unfamiliar, yet seemingly orchestrated ways. Stories where the world seems to have gone mad; and the protagonist is not necessarily an exception. The name comes from the idea that electromagnetic waves (denpa) is causing people to act strangely (although it is rarely anything that mundane).

Sounds neat

>> No.7079729

>>7079696
In that scene Takuma says that Yuka is saying something along the lines of him being disgusting and how awesome Tsukasa is right? I always wondered if that was just him tripping or if she actually say those things. If the latter then it is seriously retarded.
