Remember that VN you said you were going to make?

What happened? Did you give up, or are you still trying to make it?

>> No.7058921

If I recall correctly in a previous thread (the another dream one) it was stated that drawfags and the like can't work together worth a shit. That they get half-through and then message each other they will continue it on their own.

I'm busy letting it ferment in my head for another decade or so. I need money for shoving in as many CGs as possible, and I'm not going to have some 2-bit "drawfag" doing all that. No sir, I'm going to shell out money for a Japanese artist to do it for me.

I'm not going to bother looking for it (you can do that). The OP had a cover of one of the volumes of another dream and commented if anyone remembered it and then a few anonymous came and stated that it stopped producing more volumes because people didn't want to keep shit together or something.

Oh, I will make it someday.
For now I'm focusing on improving my art skills - I'm not that bad, but that's one area I'm a perfectionist about.
I guess soon I'll have to start working on improving my writing a bit - I'm determined to write in English, but it's not my first language, so that's a bit of a problem.
And if I decide on the idea I have now, I'll have much more to do - learning programming, and brushing up on my rusty 3D modeling and animation skills
I don't think it will be sooner than five years from now, but someday, for sure - I will make it.
I have all the time I need, after all.

Got any phrases from it that would help? Oh, and I remember seeing some site posted that listed just how much it cost to make your average eroge. Naturally, I lost the link. Do you know what I'm referring to?

No, I don't know what you're referring to. I don't do VNs. As for the phrases:

>I said Another Dream was fun reading, bad art or not.
>OP said if anyone remembered this, but without the words 'Another Dream' in the op.

That's all I remembered. And another source I got the idea of oc fags not working together was a translation project for a vn and someone posted the exact message one of them sent to the other.

Fuck, now you're making look through.

I've got everything I need. I love to draw (especially loli-looking characters), and I have almost a gig of free-to-use illustrated and 3D background images from japanese doujin sites, and basic scripting is no problem for me. My only problem is writing...I suck at it. So I guess I might just be better off making some nukige for DLsite....

Pic is a scrapped image from a failed project of mine ww

Also, for writers looking for artists: always remember that while drawings tell a lot, they're not the whole truth about the artist. Confront them about how long their drawings take and how much time they can dedicate to their project. Don't expect the estimates to be fulfilled, there are often circumstances so the deadlines will be stretched. Instead of being all about quality like I'd expect most /jp/ers to be, try to go for the devoted ones. A part of why people have bad experiences about artists is that they can't see behind the samples and pick ones that can draw but not collaborate and commit, which are even more important skills for a VN artist.

I also recommend giving the graphician artistic freedom. Remember that while your ideas are great, having multiple people contribute to the project will most likely make it even better, so don't restrict your artist's creativity for no reason. Not to mention it'll kill their motivation.

If you're trying to draw anime, you're doing it wrong. Learn to draw realistically first, while learning anatomy and perspective and all that.

Practice a lot by drawing things from life and most importantly, things you're not comfortable with. Always go after your weaknesses when it comes to drawing, and you will gain a greater perspective on things.

Afterward, you can gradually stylize your art into something that will fit for something you're trying to write.

Will be 'working on it' idly until I die. This is a particularly uninteresting example from three years ago. I have stuff from significantly earlier. Nothing seems to really gel into something I think I could convince other people to enjoy; I would probably need help for that aspect. It's hard to even consider though, since the atmosphere and environments of the world feel like a vacation home to me, and the creatures are like friends. I don't really want to share them, but I feel guilty for leaving them trapped in my skull. I also know better than to drag people into collaborating on a project while I am still feeling so lackadaisical about it all.

Thanks. I don't really like the idea of sharing something created purely out of a somewhat selfish need for expression, but perhaps there is a middle ground. I can't really stop it from leaking out every now and then anyways.
