PC98 thread

So, I've been trying to play Story of Eastern Wonderland on T98-Next and I get very noticeable framerate issues when there are a decent number of bullets on the screen. And I say a "decent number of bullets" because even the midboss flower tank in stage 1 makes the framerate jump around a little. Then I get to the boss and the framerate takes a very noticeable dive

Does anyone have some optimization tips for handling this shit? It's hard to want to play when encountering these issues

Or we could just post PC98 character art. That's cool too

Maybe you accidently activated slow mode.

Use Anex86

I'm not sure I understand. T98's motherboard settings clearly display my Framerate as being set to 1.00, and I use the highest settings for memory and CPU as the program allows

Are you referring to some option in the game itself? Because the kanji that I can't read in the options menu, which is under your starting bomb number setting, is set to normal. Should it be set to truncate?

But Anex86 is terrible. I played HRtP on that for a while before I discovered T98, tried HRtP on T98, and then never looked back. Perhaps I simply did not do some arcane optimization ritual with Anex86, but T98 seems better in every way, especially in regards to the music. Anex86 made everything sound muddied and distorted

Optimal settings. Set frame skip to auto in gdc.nhw. If you have a shitty cpu expect a crappy frame rate. T98-Next is much more demanding than Anex86, but it's so much better.

Anex86 has absolutely terrible default settings, yes.

I was hesitant to use the Auto Clock setting because it sped up the songs rather noticeably and I was worried about that, but that combined with the ITF emulation setting has pretty much eliminated my framerate issues. Thank you!

The music was terrible, but after messing with the sound settings it's fine.

I beat Dimension Dream the other day, now the only one I haven't finished in Highly Responsive to Prayers.
