What animals do you think Zun will use as characters in future games?

>> No.6992972

Still waiting for a Tanuki touhou.
Or a proper bear.

A little surprised we haven't already seen a really Moe girl based on an 'ugly' animal.

A major feature of the traditional tanuki is it's magical scrotum. How should ZUN present that with a loli?

Chest testicles.

Although not an animal, I'd like to see a zombie girl. Not like the zombie-fairies. A classic Romero-esque zombie made Touhou...

Why are cold, pale bodies so hot /jp/?

>> No.6993139

2cat, OP

I want a motherfucking grizzly bear Touhou. That'd be cool. I guess brown bear would work too since that could be more appropriate for a Touhou.

He could also plausibly do squirrel, ferret, butterfly.. maybe a different fox (not a kitsune like Ran), and if he does another bird he's got a million options.. falcon, bird of paradise, parrot, eagle, vulture, cardinal etc.

If he does actually make this next Touhou in the sea/underwater (wow what a troll that would be), quick choices would be seahorse, dolphin, mermaid, sea snake, octopus, squid, cuttlefish etc.

Also he still hasn't given us a legitimate dragon + there's also a plethora of other mythological creatures he could still tap, like unicorn, dryad, druid etc.

I don't know about the cold part, but all the other pale/predatory aspects of the undead sorts are lovely.

As far as the topic at hand:

Japanese like cranes, an elegant crane-lady would be a good one.

Or a koi, can you imagine a koi-girl? With white hair and an orange spot on top. I forget the exact mythology surrounding them, but don't they signify wealth and fortune? Reimu could keep her hostage...

Or a Kirin, IIRC there is an obscure kirin character, maybe a revisit?

>Or a koi, can you imagine a koi-girl? With white hair and an orange spot on top. I forget the exact mythology surrounding them, but don't they signify wealth and fortune? Reimu could keep her hostage...

Reimu already has a number of carp hostage in Sangessei, but she just intends to eat them. But that may not be a good idea, since one well-known myth is that carp that manage to swim up a waterfall ascend as dragons. If I recall, shooting stars were said to those transformed carp flying up to the heavens. Speaking of dragons, in China it's said that bats and small birds such as sparrows, pheasants and swallows of sufficient age can dive under water to become a bizarre clam-dragon, able to conjure mirages and known for building impressive architecture using the solid foam they produce. So one of those would be a shy mermaid girl, except instead of a fish, her lower half would be that of a large bivalve.

I'd also like to see a sazae-oni, those are girls transformed into turban shell snails as punishment for being sluts. After eking out their life as a gastropod for thirty years, they transform again, this time into large snail-monsters, but they still have the ability to transform into attractive women to seduce people. So I guess a sazae-oni Touhou would be a lewd little girl with a sea shell hat (ideally a turban shell, but I'm rather partial to venus comb murex.) A famous story about a sazae-oni involves her sleeping with an entire pirate crew and stealing their testicles afterwards, so maybe the reason Gensokyo doesn't have any males is that she rapes every new male arrival and steals their male genitalia, leaving them as pure little girls suitable for life in Gensokyo.

And while not a goblin per se, I'd like to see Yotahime as a native deity. Yotahime is a giant crocodile/shark/dragon (she's a wani, but no one's really sure what wani meant in this context ) who lives isolated on a river by a mountain and asks for clay figurines from her worshippers. But I suppose she'd switch to PVC in this day and age so she'd be a half-crocodile shut-in, spending all her life locked in her temple and demanding her subjects to buy figurines and dolls for her while she reads yuri VNs all day and yearns to have a cute priestess in her service to be her "wife", who'd love her despite her grotesque, reptilian lower half. Her name is probably derived from Toyotama-hime (or Watatsuki no Toyohime), by the way, since Toyohime was also a wani.

And speaking of sea creatures, I'd also like to see heikegani. In fact, a heikegani Touhou was drawn in one of the OC threads, but I've since lost the picture. Okiku would also be great, since she combines practically all my fetishes at once, being a shy ghost maid with self-confidence issues, who manifests as either a swarm of beetles vaguely in shape of a young girl, or as a girl with the body of a giant maggot from waist-down.

Anything ZUN does is fine.
Personally, I prefer folklore, so it can be animals, youkai, humans, whatever.
I like his own twists he adds to the stories. Mokou is a pretty good example, as Kaguya-Hime ends with only the princess on her way to the moon. ZUN adds a whole new segment to it without distorting the original. I think this gives it the charm of both the original stories and his own.
