So, I downloaded this game earlier plus all the patches and shit, but I can't get the bitch to work.

I've been using this

link and downloading the patches from it, but every time I run the patch, I get a message saying "update failed", which I had to translate using google translate to know what the hell was going on.

Has anyone else been able to get this shit to work? I mean, I can play the game itself, but I'd really like to be able to read the shit.

Is a japanese applocale any different from the microsoft applocale? Because I tried installing that too, but it gave me an error saying there was a problem with my windows installer package.

You didn't patch the game at all before, right? You have to update to 1.04 from 1.00. You also weren't doing the 1.04a one first, were you? Also one thing, I can't remember if it asks you to enter in a location name but put all the folder names in english and try that.

So wait, are you saying I have to patch the game to 1.01, then 1.02, and so on to 1.04? I haven't done that,. because I don't even have all those other patches.

Also, it does ask for a location, and I did put the name in english, but so far that hadn't done it.

This is the readme that came with the patch. When I get to step 5, the patch presumably asks for the location of the game folder, though it is in Japanese, so i can't be sure. So I chose the folder and hit OK, and it immediately tells me 'update failed'.

Try uninstalling/deleting the game then following the instructions again. Be in Japanese mode already. Even if you didn't mess something up, it might have just installed wrong.

Just the same, let it install in the default location and move it after you patch if you're going to move it.

It is in the right place, I don't have an installer for the game, just a rar I've been extracting, so it installed where the rar was. I had to go and make the folder myself the patch was trying to install to.

Oh wait, maybe the game in the rar is already patched? That would explain things, though I don't know how I would fix that, aside from finding and downloading a basic installer.

I don't know but try compatibility mode too. The link says the game is unpatched.

I never had this issue to this extent with my old copy of it so I don't know.
