Youmu's hard to use at first because she seems so weak and jerky, but her abilities really make up for it once you learn the convenience of their speed and how to do some good melee combos. She's actually not as complex as people say, someone like Komachi or Alice has a lot more versatility. But, when starting out with her before you know how/when/where to combo she seems like a complete piece of shit.

Also learn how to do Netherworld Reflection perfectly and you can reflect almost any projectile except for spellcards that outlast the reflect time.

If you look at it a certain way, in effect Youmu's projectiles are that of the enemie's + 1 extra little bullet that comes out of the reflection.

Usually the incoming bullets will cancel on the outgoing bullets, though, and you'll get maybe two-three total bullets shot back. It's kinda silly really.

The efficiency of the reflect is still higher than whatever the enemy throws at her. If the enemy tries to shoot through the reflections he'll probably just exhaust himself of orbs and leave himself open to Youmu rushing in for melee and fucking him up. That's kind of the idea actually because her melee is really killer once you get the hang of it.

I have to agree, I really like her melee. Another nice thing I like about her is her dash. It's so fast that it's easy to dash, graze then quickly get in a melee combo while the enemy is still performing whatever shot they're doing. Then again, I do that partially because I forget about her reflecting ability.

I don't like her dash. It's fast but it takes some time to actually move you in the direction you want and the one on the ground doesn't stop on the spot which makes her kind of vulnerable.

Hm...It may be a difference of playstyle then. I love ground dashing and going into her auto combo using her momentum to surprise enemies. If I can't do that I just jump instead of letting myself stop. I vastly prefer it to any other ground dash in the game, she's my second go to character because of it.

If you ground dash against an approaching Iku, you WILL get hit. There's nothing you can do about it. Same with several other characters. Not even a DP will get you out.

Alice is mostly a matter of throwing out curtains of delayed bullets with land-canceled C dolls, poking them with f.5A, 3A, or 6A when they try to graze them, and then pressuring them for as long as you can. Repeat. The only hard part about her is timing your doll shotguns.

I'd say setting up your dolls is the hardest part. Some players are so clingy that you just don't have the time for it. I've had matches that followed me getting perfected with a perfect on my own. Once you have some defense, you better make them stay out.

Bleh, don't remind me about Iku. I normally mix up how I use my dash, although I still hate Iku because she's a big fat cheater with a big fat scarf and disco shoes. I haven't fought her much with Youmu though, or much at all. I don't see her much strangely.
