Hello /jp/.

I've recently acquired an interest in VNs thanks to a thread in /v/, and subsequently played Saya no Uta. I was surprised at how invested I was in the characters' fate, that by the end I cried when Saya was killed.

I am now interested in broadening my horizons, but with a few limitations for my second VN. Can you recommend any VNs with a similar duration, but with no gore or gratuitous sex scenes? I have no problem with sex being part of the narrative, as long as it serves a purpose, and is not in the spirit of fanservice.

You've been very helpful in the past, recommending me some good J-dramas, so I trust your judgement.

It depends on what type of story you are looking for really.

G-Senjou no Maou would probably be a safe bet.

Hanachirasu, Quartett, Planetarian.

Read Syphonic Rain, cute as hell hell bitter-sweet story with music to die for. The MC is a little bit of a waste of space but he has sufficient reason to be.
I can't believe that shart doesn't have it considering the praise it gets from people who read it.

Not very many things worth reading are that short that are translated.

That chart is pretty funny, OP.

Saya no Uta is really short. You won't find much else as short as it that is really as good as it.

If you insist on it being short try Kikokugai, and Hanachirasu which are if I remember correctly from the same author and developer.

If you don't mind length try Sharin no Kuni.

I'll recommend you Ever17. SnU was a vn I started with, E17 was next and although it's a hell of a lot longer, I also feel that it's better overall. You'll want to set some time aside for it though, it's not the type you can play off/on over the course of a month.

popular material will always be accessible to more people than "better" material. Sure choice-wise it's 'bout as simple as you can get, but I wouldn't call it bland or bad, if that's what you're implying. I wouldn't consider it the norm for /jp/ either, plenty of folk like OP come from /v/ or /a/ or what have you after a VN or saya thread.

OP's picture didn't have the Phoenix Wright series. I would put that under "Baby's first VN". They aren't mind boggling hard, nor have multiple endings, but they are very much worth playing.

Phoenix Wright isn't a visual novel. People need to learn the difference between an adventure game and a visual novel.

Just popping in to ask a question.

I'm playing through Clannad right now and the story structure is getting me confused. I'm on the 20th day of the Misae route for my first playthrough (I think that's a route at least) but there are a lot of dream sequences that I assume are with Nagisa. Is this game like a traditional VN where you 'pick' a girl, or is there only one path? If so, is Nagisa the canon end, because it seems like it and I do not like it.

>> No.6961002

>>6960975
It technically is though.
Most people will never have heard of the games in that list.

>> No.6961006

>>6960995
It's not Nagisa.
As soon as you actually enter a route, they disappear.
But yes, Nagisa is the main route, but there's no canon/the other didn't happen. You have like 10 routes more or less.

Most people hate it because /jp/ hate to spoonfed and having a sheep herd mentality is dumb.

I thought it was Nagisa because of her speech at the beginning of the game and how surreal everything is. Someone also said it has something to do with alternate realities, so I guess I just got trolled.
