6949669 No.6949669 [Reply] [Original]

I remember when I used to play my first MMO. In the community, it almost felt like a CRIME to play a different gender than your own. I remember even I looked down on those people. I remember people used to be very secretive about playing a different gender.

But now, playing with /jp/, it feels like it would be a crime to play male characters. As if though you've betrayed everybody.

This is why I think this is. As guys, we want to be surrounded by women. To accomplish this, we all make the small sacrifice of playing a female character, so when we're together, we're all surrounded by 'girls'. That's why when a /jp/er makes a male character I can't help but feel disgusted, as if though every other female character in the group is now part of that guy's harem, thereby ruining the atmosphere

no, you piece of shit.

The reason you play female characters is so you have something visually appealing to look at while you grind.

There also tends to be about 10x the effort put into female characters motion animations, as they involve significant more hip and waste movement than anything of the opposite gender for nearly every action.

it is most apparent with the female dwarf running animation.

What?
I always played female characters because I wanted to be a girl.
Even when I was a semi-normal spending time on WoW, I told everyone I was female and made up a fake name and used a voice manipulator on ventrilo.

Well it really deppnds od the look and the type of class I want to play. I usually play a male, but if someone ask he to play female or if the males in game are just to brawly super alpha male is then I play females.

Example of a too brawly shitty looking male would be WoW, well except Elves all males look like shit with HUGE hand and HUGE shoulders and HUGE bears.

So in the end I played Blood Elf. In Aion I played a male because you cou make them look normal. In Ragnarok I played both, and in other mmos it really depends.

Uh, I dunno about anyone else, but I just like some female character models over male character models. No, I don't mean that in a sexual way, I mean that in a "does it look cool" way

Example: Back when I played WoW, all of my characters were male. Why? Because they looked better than the females to me. Then I played Warhammer Online, and female High Elves looked really cool, so I made a High Elf Swordmaster. She had such a cool "lithe yet strong whirling dervish" vibe going with that huge two handed sword Swordmasters could use. It was awesome. Then I played a male High Elf Archmage because I liked *that* look. And so on

TLDR I judge it on a case-by-case basis. What look do I like in this particular case, male or female? Whatever it is, I don't care, so long as I look good

>> No.6950045 [DELETED]

Nope sorry. I can't invest my emotion into a female character.

Some of you guys like being chicks, that's fine. But I fucking hate it.

>> No.6950048

Yeah, when I started playing MMOs I always always made male characters; I didn't want to be "one of those creeps" who pretended to be a girl (this was back when there was actually some semblance of roleplaying in MMO>RP<Gs and so playing a female character tended to imply there was actual pretending happening). Of course in games like Diablo where there's only 1 gender per class, playing female characters was perfectly acceptable. My first encounter with guys openly playing female characters would have been FFXI with all the people playing Mithra, including some people I knew. I still thought it was weird then (I played a Galka), although I did later make a Mithra mule.

I think Mabinogi was the first time I made a female character (or did I play Atlantica first? shit, I can't remember). In any case after I started playing Touhou and visiting old /a/ then /jp/, I wound up making female characters all the time.

But there's no issue of "betrayal" as far as I'm concerned, I don't give a shit whether you play a male or female character. (and honestly the "little girls only" attitude annoys me, especially the "I won't play game X because you can't be a little girl" bullshit). But personally I just like playing female characters now. And actually in my case playing female characters really isn't about what I "want to be", I really do play female characters because I prefer looking at them over male characters. On the other hand playing a male character feels like I'm pretending to be some manly tough guy through playing a game, and ends up seeming more pathetic than playing as a girl, so fuck that.

>> No.6950054

Don't know if it's related to thread but...
Recently started playing Fable 3 and in the beggining you choose your sex.
There I chose female, so after that you chose your clothes, there is only two old antiquated dresses, and whatever you choose, the character will look ugly, and after that you have to choose between kissing or hugging a guy.
What?
Gave up on the damn thing, do /jp/ hates playing female when there is few clothes to choose and your character loses her purity as soon as the game begins?

>> No.6950059

The first time I got into using females was when I played Soul Calibur II and Talim clicked with me. I pretty much main girls exclusively on fighters now, and in RPGs where you create a party, I always insert myself as a girl and the rest of my team are girls, too.

>> No.6950063

Usually base it on animations or how cool they look in high end gear.
Ex: WoW, Forsaken everything. Best animations, best appearance. Fuck yeah zombies. Both genders, females have those absolutely radical flips so I tend to go with those for melee, males has cool casting animations so I make male casters.
