His Japanese writing is shitty and he gets things wrong all the time, but the achievement of the goal, learning Japanese, is more important than getting hung up on details and worrying that you might have a bad accent, waste time, or learn something wrong. Before watching him, I learned kana on my own by writing them over and over in a notebook just like he describes. He's right, it works. Do it you bitch. Remember if anyone tests you on Japanese it's not going to be about how well you know it, but how much of it you know.
