I think either you are real hypocrite if you criticize other places or really disconnected from reality. Poor people are EVERYWHERE. In Japan situation looks like that (and it doesn't look that bad - streets and buildings seem to be in good condition), in USA they live in cardboard boxes and commit petty crimes to survive, and in south America nearly everyone is poor and they live in small wooden houses. And no I don't defend Japan - I'm tired of Americans complaining about every place in world. Bad luck for japs that Americans are usually ignorant and usually Japan is their "first" country that they have real contact with (aka victims of racism).
