Sorry to bother you since this isn't the proper board, but which one am I supposed to use to ask language-related questions such as lettering and pronunciation? I can't find a language board.Image unrelated but it was the only I found that seemed passable for /jp/ posting.

Anyway, since I'm already making this, I might as well ask. I've found a sight called www.howjsay.com and when I was looking on how to pronounce certain words, it gave me the option of seeing the text in another language.

I placed letters, then translated it to japanese text. It gave me a,b, and "c" but when I got to "d" there was just a d next to the "c" symbol. Is this just because of the way the literary form of the language works without the letter "d"? I'm still going through the other letters and writing them down.

And yes, babby's first thinking.

You must be blind.

also /lang/ in the text boards.

It's a common misunderstanding, don't worry about it. Although there are language threads here from time to time, they're not so good since everyone is trying to push them away.

How do you organize the letters when trying to write a word? Do you place them from right to left and top to bottom? I'm lost now.

What?
You seem very confused. I recommend starting with the fundamentals. Go to the library and find Yookoso. Read it and get a basic idea of how the language works.

I was getting symbols for individuals letters.

Like " 一" for "a" and "ロ" for "b" and so on.

There are no symbols for individual letters. That's stupid. Have you even seen japanese? It's like I'm /v/ or something. Fuck this. /jp/ is the gayest imageboard on the internet and I hope you all get DDoS'd by Moot himself.

sounds like this site fails at Japanese and is just throwing gibberish at you, or it's because you're attempting to translate single letters, which makes no sense as a "translation". Except for vowels and "n", Japanese doesn't have any equivalents to single English letters.

Pic for reference

If you're using Vista or 7, and you're on the JP language bar, make sure you don't use Japanese input. Doing so converts your English keyboard to a Japanese one.

Wait, what? Are you aware that each Japanese kana represents a syllable, not a letter?

I thought there were other types of Kana
