Now that Muv-Luv Alternative has it's second patch "complete" how long until we see an inevitable leak?

I want to play past the first arc without shitty translations NOW damnit.

>> No.6879683

Never. Ixrec has his dogs tethered well.

Impressive.

>> No.6879715

The best thing that could happen is that the talks fall apart and Ixrec keeps his word about releasing it anyways.

Really thinking about it though, isn't that kind of weird? He says he'll release it if funny business like Demonbane happens and it looks like it'll be stalled for a while.

But that means that he went up to the company, tried to negotiate a deal, and THEN releases an illegal patch right under their nose because he doesn't like how they do business. It's like spitting in their faces.

I'm not sure if that's awesome or not

It's awesome, and age can either take what they can get out of the deal or fuck off - the important part here is that the threat of an unofficial release is real, and ixrec will release the patch if a commercial deal does not come through.
Guess we just have to have faith in ammy devs.
It'd sure as hell be more assuring if these guys put out a concrete date like "you'll definitely be able to enjoy alternative officially or not within the year" though.

>> No.6879804

I wonder what Ixrec had in mind. That the company will simply take the translation and then market it globally somehow?

Maybe he is hopping that its like EF and NNL but he is really expecting much, MuvLuv cannot be fully translated without making changes to how it runs on the engine and that means MangaGamer would have to port the game to a new engine or rebuild the script for the translation to work.

I doubt Age is that interested because they make money domestic and spending too much time on a old game that is unlikely to make a profit is simply flushing money down the toilet.

And it does have to go with MangaGamer because I doubt JAST can do it considering the issues they run with Demonbane I dont think they could solve the problems with MuvLuv without Age having to fix then.

Alternative just wouldn't work in a non-rUGP engine though.

>> No.6880170

>>6880149

Is that bad ...
Well then he can pretty much forget about unless Age decides to take the risk.

>> No.6880178

>>6880170
I mean, it could still work, but you'd lose like 90% of the stuff that makes Alternative so impressive without making heavy changes to make it fit another engine, but even then you'd still lose a very large portion of it.

>> No.6880191 [DELETED]

this is gay as fuck.

>> No.6880214 [DELETED]

did he really do this just for trolling?

>> No.6881154

I dunno about you but I waited about 6 years (ever since I've heard about this game). It's not going to kill me to wait half a year more.

> Implying the rest of the translation won't be released for a few years.

FUCK.

>> No.6881723

how long did it take for someone to get fed up with message's shit and "leak" the ubw patch?

>>6880142
what exactly can't be translated? does it have a lot of animu cutscenes like unlimited did?

>> No.6881729

>>6881723
There's a few anime-ish cutscenes /w voice (all the arc endings) that can't be translated onscreen. They have to throw the text in a txt file and open it at that point, which works fine imho.

There's also a few scenes (mostly arc briefings) where they're talking at the same time as the protag is thinking.

>> No.6881752

>>6881729
I'm not a pro hacker but couldn't they come up with some kind of script that would hook into the game and display a subtitle overlay for those scenes?

>> No.6881782

>>6881752
They tried but their hackers are incompetent.

>> No.6881831

>>6881782
they need to read their sicp

>> No.6882663

>>6881782
Yeah, the hacker likes men.

>> No.6883223

IS THE PATCH OUT YET?
