It's coming along, but hope you're noting the mixing got quite a ways to go. Also, it sounds like the bass player is a bit off from the drums rhythm wise, so you might want to try another take or a bit of audio quantization (ie, warp markers, elastic audio, flexitime).

Actually asking for a bit of advice here.

I tried to pretend I know something about making art (I don't), and played around with photoshop (which I also don't know shit about) to make some clouds. Thanks to the aforementioned reasons, it looks like something made by a kid with down sydrome.

Could any drawfriends give me some advice on how to make clouds that look pretty? For now killing myself isn't an option, by the way.

>> No.6879272

>>6878747
I assume the curvature was intentional here? Like a wide-angle lens?

Anyway, coming from a self-proclaimed master of cloud drawing (ahem), these look good already but need more depth. Open your drawing and tilt your monitor back 20 degrees. Looks pretty good, doesn't it? See the top left cloud? See the light blue stuff on the left side of the cloud? MOAR of that. Add that anywhere sunlight isn't directly hitting the cloud. The whitest clout you will ever see in the sky will still have portions that are 30-40% gray.

>> No.6879376

>>6879272
Yeah, the wide angle was done on purpose.

But still, I see what you mean. When I tilt the monitor the contrast on the screen makes it look way better indeed. I did some curves adjustments and played with the saturation levels for an extra enhancement, but I guess I should do some manual coloring too. It also looks unsurprisingly better in CYMK.

Thanks a lot for the tips, man.

I'll be specific then.

The reds circles shows what's could be re-worked or changed completely. You shouldn't force on the curves when drawing a cloud, they must have a more "carefree trace" or something.

The yellow circles are examples of what I think it's nice, you could use that to base the changes on.

The green circles show what kind of effect you can use to change things like the red circles, that's a nice effect.

The purple circle is for you to compare the traces between purple and red. Look how the trace in the purple circle are more tranquil and calm than the abrupt downs and ups in the red circle areas.

But then again, I'm no professional and that's just my personal opinion. Also you don't have to make extreme changes, that will be surely bad.

Please explain to me the structure of an anime face from the ground up. As you might be able to tell from the image here (my scanner glitched, twice, while scanning, so the eyeline is skewed, but whatever) I have absolutely no idea where to place the eyes, nose, and mouth and how to size them to make them not look awkward. I also get the feeling that her air intakes are too small, but that's not really important; I sketched this in class while daydreaming so it wasn't done from reference or anything. The point is that I don't understand the anatomy of an anime character.

Seriously, if you are going to use and pay for the program eventually anyways why not just pirate it now?

If you're good at art, as far as I'm concerned you're doing everyone else a disservice by worsening the quality of your work for no truly logical reason.

And by no reason, I mean it's all the same shit if you pay for it in the end, right? Pirating is not mutually exclusive to buying; in fact, no matter what you do you're not helping anyone by forcing yourself to use a shitty substitute. If you feel an obligation to buy it now, are you saying that they'll magically dissolve if you start using it now? That would say something about their nature and how much you actually believe in whatever the foundations of that feeling of obligation are.

On a related note, I will probably get hammered for this, but the way modern software distribution/intellectual rights laws work in the modern day makes absolutely no sense in the first place, and eventually there will probably be a complete revolution in it. It was different back when art was actually an unclonable, material thing, but things have changed and yet the basic principles remain the same.

Yet all you see people complain about is pirating, when the system itself is practically nonfunctional(it's virtually based on people being trusted to deprive themselves when no one is really watching or can even possibly be watching) and needs to be rethought from the ground up from almost every point. Good luck with that, though, the situation seems beyond help, although this is a pretty big concern as will almost undoubtedly have heavy negative(from our standpoint) influence on the future of the internet if such problems remain the way they are now.

tl;dr don't deprive yourself because of retarded laws, especially if you plan on following in spirit anyways. if you're good at art everyone wants to see what you can do.

>> No.6894401

sorry to reverse my tl;dr, but...

>>6894345
>retarded laws
And I acknowledge that they are there for a reason even now, which is both to scare the average person and to make it so it's not so easy to pirate that every form of art becomes unprofitable, which is what would happen if there were absolutely no laws against piracy.

But that doesn't equate to more cash flow resulting from people who have a very limited amount of money to spend when we're talking about digital products.

With the(relatively) new age of digitization of all art forms, they're based on broken concepts in terms of practicality, morality, functionality, and philosophy, but they prevent things from going to complete shit until someone comes up with a better system.

I have a question about recoloring in Photoshop. Any help is appreciated.

I have been running into problems when recoloring textures for models in that I know of no way to recolor an image towards a specific color without using a solid color fill. It's important, as I'm trying to make colors match between different objects, and solid color fills destroy lightness gradation.

This is one of the textures I am working on, with a sample color pasted into the upper left side(the small pattern in a brighter gold color). I'd like to learn a method of taking a sample color from from the lighter gold part and then using that exact color as a reference to change the color of the darker gold part to match it using Photoshop, ideally while preserving the black and the changes in lightness from black>gold in the original.

Thus far, I haven't been able to figure out an exact method, and so have been judging it by eye using the hue adjustment layer(although I have had some success with the color balance adjustment layer function).

The best method I have found so far is recoloring the portion I want to change to black and white and then inputting the exact number of the color I want to bias towards into the color balance layer, but it's still not exact(only gets close to reproducing the color it started from, for example).

Sorry for the wall of text.

I have no idea what you just said, but if you want to change a single color in photoshop without it touching the black in the image you could >magic wand the black, >Select similar, >Inverse, >Ctrl backspace the color you want the non black space to be.
you may have to grow or shrink selection to fit it right.

to match the lighter gold of the small emblem. Preserving the black and the color shading(ex: if a part fades from colored to black, i want to preserve that) is also a requirement. I would like to use the exact numeric color to do this rather than using visual judgment(which I can do but is time consuming and inaccurate).

Is this possible? I would think there'd be a method utilizing color adjustment layers.

Thanks for the reply, but I suppose the best way of describing what I'm looking for is a color shift towards an exact numerical color in RGB. Using a solid color fill doesn't preserve the color shading present in the original.

You're such a skinny girl, Miku, you'd best drink all that milk...

Are you ever gonna reupload works to your pixiv? It's all gone, and that makes me very sad. Think of the ushiko, man...

I'm thinking that playing around with layer masks and different layer options might just do the trick, but I am no Photoshop_expert either, sorry. Try looking into that though.

You guys know of any good places with tutorials or help or w/e on drawing chibi's? I suck at it.

This is the most recent thing I drew, after a 4 year hiatus from drawing... It's Narga armour from Monster Hunter Freedom Unite...

What kind of chibi you want to draw exactly? There are many different styles.

SD mostly, I really like the versions where the arms/legs just round off instead of having hands and feet. I mainly just need help with different poses and facial expressions and shit. When I attempt them myself they look really awkward, so I need some reference material really.

The pose the one I drew is in is pretty much the only pose I can make turn out ok haha.

Do you guys have a pixiv profile or something? Because you should! I could swear the good stuff ITT could not have been made by the dirty gaijin of the west.

Thanks, it was really fun to work on this song even though we're pretty inexperienced - we're both enthusiastic to work together again on something else.

We're keen to find a key/synth player to work with though, so if anyone wants to join in music making just drop me an email and say hi or something.

Uh, don't think that was intended for the music projects. Not trying to take anything credit off you or anything though.

Also, I'm kind curious of how exactly you guys collaborate? I have some old keyboards that I may be able to get working, but I worry about latency issues.

You're right, I meant to quote >>6908207, silly error.

Our workflow was

Arrange -> Sequence drums -> Each record parts seperately using drums as reference -> Upload to shared folder on dropbox -> mash them together in Reaper.

You would probably need an audio interface or decent soundcard to avoid the latency issue unfortunately.

Oh, I thought you might be using one of those online collaboration programs. Well, I guess I can give it a try - send me the parts at the attached email.

The arms seem a little long, out of proportion with the rest of the body. Other than that though, it's quite lovely. The wings sticking over the top of the page give everything a sort of 3D-ish feel, like it's popping off the page.

Another tool but requires more effort to get desired results. With paint programs, you mess up once and all you have to do is click the undo button. If coloring outside, you have to be careful or you might make a mistake that may even not be fixed.

I see porn drawings as "utility" original content. They can be "useful" if they are done well, even more directly so than other drawings.

Besides I'm sick and tired of simply cute or unexciting pictures.
