I guess not but it just kind of bums me out. One day I was browsing /jp/ innocently, when I suddenly scrolled down into an Umineko thread. I didn't even enter it, it was none of my business, but I can't help but to see a post revealing exactly who the killer is, in all capital letters. Since it was the end of the page, there was no way to scroll out of it in time. I was severely butthurted since I was still in the middle of playing episode 6.

Really, it's not a big problem, but if people have the decency to put spoiler tags on every VN thread, they should at least have the decency to do the same with Umineko threads.

Umineko is not the only title that is spoiled frequently. A good amount of Umineko fans come here but actually don't frequent the board, they just come here for the Umineko threads.

Whoever wrote this has absolutely no idea what winter is like. First off, it takes place in a wintery area, a place that’s used to getting large volumes of snow on a consistent basis every year. So where are the snowplows? Snowmobiles? Snow Blowers? or even at the very base-bottom scraping the barrel, where are the snowshoes? Skis? Shovels? One big thing I’ve noticed and irritates me to no end is there doesn’t seem to be public service equipment like backhoes, bulldozers, etc. Hell, there isn’t even trucks with snowplow blades. In this light, it was clearly written by someone who only has a basic, academic understanding of winter- that winter is cold and there is snow and that snow is inconvenient. There’s no sense that the writer knows at all what he’s talking about. Because it’s so discordant with what winter and snow are really like, I could not get immersed.

Secondly, The overall attitude of the people in the game. I’ve never actually seen this in any of the other games I’ve played. There’s this sniveling passiveness that permeates the game. No one wants to accept personal accountability for themselves and everyone is looking for a leader. Even their leader is abdicating responsibility… and looking for a leader. Disgusting. Nobody wants to do anything at all because it might possibly, theoretically in the unforeseeable future inconvenience someone else that may or may not happen along in said theoretic future. It’s this whinging, cringing passivity that leads to the persecution of people who do the right thing. Hello, they’re doing the right thing, don’t punish them for doing what’s right. As much as i hate government for their absurd thinking, they dispatch some of these in conditions considered as "calamity situations". If heavy snow starts, it can take relatively short time to for snow to accumulate. Same might go for heavy rains. These things and people operating them aren't there 24/7

I live in a place that's essentially winter conditions from october to about march. there are city-owned snowplows and trucks that sand the roads for traction, but in addition to that I'd say that one of every five or so people here has a snowplow blade that can be mounted on a truck, and they generally do the more residential areas. Everyone (including myself) has a portable snow blower or snow shovel for driveway and sidewalk work.
Assuming that the city trucks are disabled or inaccessible, there's still consumer-grade solutions.

One of the main reasons I'm a NEET today is that I've had family that have worked for the city maintenance crew. It's the most unforgiving work in existence.

You are on-call 24/7 and must be contactable at all times. During winter, your truck has to have a plow of it's own so you can get to work. If you're on duty, it's not unheard of to take the bucket-loaders home the night before.

The only real part of your argument that works is having all the equipment destroyed, which is very possible. Most cities horribly underfund maintenance crews. My city with a population of 50000 has only twenty loaders. And that's well-funded. Most places can have 10, or even as little as five.
Of course, this argument doesn't hold up too well due to the fact that you can mount a plow on anything. When the loaders are busted, they'd just mount the plows on anything else that's heavy. Dumptrucks, Garbage Trucks, Pickups, even contracting out the local school bus provider.

Further, in heavy snowfall, you don't just wait until the snow has piled up. You start your day running down the main streets and hitting residential areas if you have time. You plow once. You plow twice. You keep plowing until it stops snowing or you've been at it for twenty hours and then you drive it back to the depo and hand it off to the next guy who has a shift while you go home/sleep in the depo.
