It sounds like the DVD version contains an extra graphic scenario (either that or my katakana is completely fucked up), but there's a patch for the CD version on their website that adds it. Just remember to patch it (the english patch won't work on vanilla CDs anyway) and you're set.

No. The game actally works unpatched. The problem is that when the standard edition patch verifies the MD5 for the files that it's going to patch, it stops at Quartett.exe. On the other hand, if I try to install the english patch it tells me "unknown version detected".

from my understanding, voice patches usually require dicking around with the game's engine, and seeing that this game has its own unique one, it may never happen. you cannot just extract voices from PS2 version and run the game.

I had problems with installing the patch too, much to my frustration. It didn't help that the patch said that my Quartet!! was an unknown version. When it said that my second download was an unknown version, I knew that something was up. I took a trip over to Kureha One, and someone uploaded the unrar'd patch there. Copy everything in it to your Quartet!! folder, and you're good to go.

I thought I was going to love it when I first started reading it. And I did, until halfway through my first route (the black haired girl's). Then it just... sort of felt flat for me. I'm not all too sure why. Possibly because her route felt so anticlimactic at the end. I played the other two girls' routes, and also got the Finale but that 'meh' feeling still pressed on.

Overall, it's a lovely, visually impressive story about growing up and all that, but it's not something that I'd want to read again, or even discuss properly.

Personally I was really satisfied with Quartett, it was a nice change from your generic eroge. I liked its interface and especially its "gameplay" or however you'd like to call it. I was pleased that Auto actually worked quite well with this game, too. I had no expectations for it, so I just sat back and enjoyed the show.

I finished it earlier today. I loved Charlotte's route even though I wasn't a fan of hers in the beginning (she got pretty cute in the end), Juni's was decent too in my opinion, but Shahau's wasn't as good. Her route the music didn't play such a big role like in the others, and her grandfather was a despicable guy, and I wasn't a fan of what he did there. The secretary guy was decent in the very end.
I wish the girls from the other Quartett woulda been available because May, Giselle, Signina were all really likable characters (I liked Signina the most, I was even quite disappointed when Hans has the opportunity to have a sex with her), and I'd have appreciated a story for them more than say Shuhua.
Marco was an asshole till the end (except maybe in Shuhua's route), but the finale of the game was excellently done I thought. But yeah I liked it a lot myself, I believe the presentation and the unique art makes it worth playing.

I love the game's style, it's different than the usual. Game has no voices, but considering the setting and my tendency to make the scenes go faster, that probably turned out for the better. Plus, I like the art.

yeah, but the downside of it is that you can't make really long games with that because they cost money for the artist and coders. The reason Quartett! is so short is precisely because it doesn't use sprites.
