This has been asked in the old ygo Touhou card image threads. The goal is to play online with fan-made cards using YVD.

MSE can only create .jpg Images and YVD can only show .gif images on the field. If you export your cards, you will have to convert them, for example with Adobe Photoshop (File->Automate->Batch...).

The cards in the example set are Touhou cards from TH6-8. Of course, they aren't perfect and I'm not satisfied with many of them myself. The set will be changed (balanced) after it has been tested (online) and I get your reviews/advices.

Tokens that are removed from play are simply removed from the field. The "until" just means that when the token reenters the field, this is not a Summon. The effect is taken from "Strike Ninja", but changed to be the cost. A similar effect doesn't exist yet, so there is no official wording. I'd rather not write that the token is tributed and another is summoned in the Standby Phase. Maybe if I just change "remove from play" to "remove from the field" (that wording doesn't exist)...
Post one if you know a better wording.

About Wriggle though, if she is flipped and destroyed by battle and you and your opponent has an equal amount of monsters such as if you have Wriggle and your opponent has only one monster no tokens are summoned because the effect activates before she goes to the graveyard. Just wondering if you meant for it to work like that.

I know that most of the time, it will activate when Wriggle is attacked, so if your opponent has 3 monsters, he can destroy all of yours, but not attack directly. (but you can prevent further attacks with a trap to tribute the tokens in the next turn)
I'm not happy with the Fusion monsters. Their effects are taken from the Imperishable Night menu, but they are all about improving survival. (extra bomb on death/extra bomb after each stage/smaller hitbox!?)

Changed them to return the fusion material monsters to the deck, but without the "return to extra deck" effect (yet) (only to Hourai Elixir, but changed it to "End Phase of your next turn" to end at the same time the effect does. With their defensive abilities (netherworld team) and high cost (material monsters are level 5 and higher), only Marisa+Alice (lvl 4 and 3) are so easy to summon by themselves that you'll sacrifice them for a one-turn fusion. (the effects of the material monsters are mostly better than those of the fusion monsters)

1. I didn't really think of combinations with existing cards when making those. For example, I'm sure there are one-hit KO combos with Tewi's effect.
2. "You can't change this card into Defense Position." means "you" can't", not "it can't be". In other words, manual change is not possible, effects still work.
3. "Also, the last effect is simply avoided by not summoning anything else". The effect is: "At the beginning of your Battle Phase, if you control other monsters, destroy them. If you don't, shift control of this card to your opponent."
If you control only Flandre, control of her is switched. The "destroy" is NOT optional.

Firstly, what you need is a website of some sort so people can see what you've been doing at any time, instead of digging up the archived threads.

Secondly, not to nitpick, but you need someone to brush up the MTG cards' flavor text. Yeah, almost all of them. For MTG you can probably play custom sets online with MWS or Lackey, I wouldn't know.

Sadly I don't care much for YGO as I wouldn't touch the rules with a ten-foot pole.

Has it occurred to you that if you are creating a custom MTG set from scratch, the only thing the cards have to be balanced against are EACH OTHER? Since you aren't playing it in Legacy or current T2, who cares what a card can do today? All rules can go out the window.

The only thing you have to guard against is certain combos or cards being so strong that they are always played in every deck, and it is a mistake to exclude them. Other than that, the sky's the limit. Protip: You might also consider toning down the power level across the board and make weaker cards overall, so players have a chance to experiment with all the cards in your set, instead of being facerolled by a consistent and relentless aggro machine.

This card is horrible. Pump all the damage higher or drop her price by 3. She has tremendous backlash from using her (especially sacrificing mountains), it's bad that she costs so much.
Her first ability can be made much less useless by having it be, say, 5 damage to target creature and its controller. In addition to dropping her price by at least 1, and changing the third ability to 5 damage to everyone, she can be made somewhat useful.

She's still painful because sacrificing mountains hurts red a LOT.

This card is Wurmcoil Engine. It is an extremely efficient and effective creature in pretty much any kind of deck which can support it. It's just plain nasty and you have to deal with it twice.

What you shouldn't do is give a shit about Wurmcoil Engine. Just ignore faggots who love to compare all the cards you are making to $50 rares, and who think that a card isn't "good" unless it's on the bleeding edge of power creep. If you make any cards as powerful as this card, chances are good they'll all end up in a single deck, which will win every game ever played with your set. To counter this, you have to make even stronger counters, like board sweepers and creature removal, which effectively put you back where you started designwise.

If you are not a very experienced designer and really really want a MTG set to compare power levels with, I would suggest a core set. If you were forced to make constructed decks out of a core set, many many cards are really weak yet have the potential to be used. This is way better than having a certain theme or mechanic that completely shits all over the rest of the set, like infect or madness.

Giant Orc and Dark Zebra use the same wording for position change. I don't know of any effects that prevent changing the position of a monster by card effects. I'll add it to avoid misunderstandings.

I need to connect the last 2 sentences. That is currently done with the "If you don't" referring the the "you control other monsters". Without that, if I wrote "If you don't control any other monsters, switch...", the timing of the switch would be no longer defined and it could possible create endless loops.

Thanks, I thought no one would read em. If I had to do a custom mechanic for a touhou set, I would probably try to design one around the ideas of danmaku and spellcards. That's 2 mechanics that feel natural to the Touhou universe and the players.

Danmaku (sorceries and instants only) would probably have the element of a spontaneous 'contest' or 'challenge' that a player could win or lose. Perhaps 'challenging' the opponent to do something, like discarding a land, or to take no combat damage this turn. The winning player gets a bonus like drawing a card (blue) or lifegain (white) etc.

No idea about the spellcard mechanic, but they are supposed to be strong danmaku spells that are pulled out as a last resort, so I guess they would be extremely powerful and expensive.

Don't much like it. Must it fly? Keep in mind that many touhous can fly. If you want to give all the canon flyers flying, you're making it really hard for the non-flying ones to ever see play.

Okay, so she's a fairy and fairies can fly. But it's green. There's a reason green has terrible flyers, if they even exist. At least make her gold green-white if you must create this specific card or die inside.

Don't forget that GGGG is a different deckbuilding commitment from 3G. You pretty much have to play monogreen to get her out. No one would go monogreen for such an unspectacular creature, especially compared to other cards in the thread. So she defeats her own purpose of existing.

Last but not least do you realize this card can stall games annoyingly? Basically I can pay GG at my opponent's end step for 2 life, as many times as I want.

I guess they'd have regular effects but be more powerful if the appropriate character is out. Ex: a renamed Lightning Bolt that normally does 2, but it'll do 5 if Iku's on the battlefield

For Curse of Fiend, it is not important whether it's Standby or Main Phase 1 as long as no monster had its position changed. For my card, it is crucial, since I can't skip the Main Phase once it has begun.

The differences between normal spell and quick in this case are just:

"Play" mean you duel with other people online.
You need to have an account from XeroCreative in order to play through server duel. With IP duel you need static IP but mine is dynamic.
After you have set up everything you need to arrange with someone and exchange name so s/he can connect to you. XeroCreative has their own IRC channel, you can see the link there at the main page, after going there you need to go to #YVD, that's the place people go to to arrange duels or chat about anything YGO related.
Playing here is almost the same as playing IRL, which mean everything is done manually.
And only people with yvd.sets file and YVD version( 9.1 as of now) as you can duel with you.
Anyway, just give me your account name for now so we can duel later since I need to leave now.
