Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor, a person like you who makes the choice to donate. There is no substitute for your donation.

When you make a blood donation, you join a very select group. Currently only 3 out of every 100 people in America donate blood.

From its beginning, the American Red Cross has formed a community of service, of generous, strong and decent people bound by beliefs beyond themselves. The American Red Cross blood donor embodies this principle. Please join us in our mission to maintain a safe and stable blood supply by making your appointment to donate blood today.

To find out where you can donate, visit www.redcrossblood.org/ or call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543).

Technically that is donation.

Legally, they cannot pay you money for body parts.

They can give you compensation for a service, however, and that service just happens to be claiming blood plasma.

I tried donating blood once. I think they had trouble... keeping the needle in, or something? I don't even remember. After a few minutes they were just like, "Yeah, thanks, but forget it. You can just go." Also I felt really fucked-up and nauseous afterward.

Something similar happened to me as well the first (and only) time I tried to give blood. I'm terrible with needles anyway, so it was really tough for me. It really hurt when they stuck it in my arm, and after about 30 seconds (of constant pain) the lady took it out and told me to leave.

At least I got some cookies and juice...

>> No.6826140

>>6826096

It puts a great strain on the veins. They tend to collapse, like with IV drug users. This, in turn, tends to throw a wrench into the process of circulation. It won't kill you, but it isn't going to win you any points either.

The Red Cross has trained medical professionals perform the extraction, and you are only permitted to donate sparingly, so as to avoid injury/vampires.

Why would I give away blood when I drink it and need all I can get

>> No.6826428

I cant, first and last time I tried was a few months ago. I blacked out, when i get blood tests it is bad (not being able to walk for 20 minutes). Blacking out is no fun, they take way more than necessary.

>> No.6826461

I had my blood drawn once for a test and I misinterpreted the instructions as "Don't eat for twenty-four hours." instead of twelve

I actually grayed out once they found a suitable vein then proceeded to extract it. The experience was actually one of the most surreal and enjoyable in my whole life, viewing the world as nothing more than the phosphenes that I used to retreat away with as a young boy accompanied with the bare white outlines of everything. Every voice was nothing more than a weird reverberation of an echo chamber ten miles away in a different language. The feeling of disconnection from the world was simply the best emotion that I've ever felt and if dying from blood loss feels like that in any form, then I have nothing to fear anymore.

It's now my new fetish and high. When I get my car back I'm going to donate blood every day to get my weird pleasures off.

I heard some people make money donating blood, and do it often as a little extra source income. I think you get somewhere between $20-30+ per visit but can only do it a certain amount of times a month or some such. They want O neg the most no matter what. Other ones are Bombay O, A2, and there's really a whole bunch of ones involving lesser blood antigens like Lewis groups, Keller, MNS, etc but they don't do any of the antigen testing at the donation place I think. All the antigens are found in antibody screens before cross-matching at the hospital bloodbank or at research laboratories for the ultra rare ones.
