I think R07 mistake with Beatrice character was to resurrect her in ep VI immediately at the start, albeit in a "new" version.. the moment she was resurrected you knew Beato was going to surface again.

I loved her in EP 1-5. Then further in the chiru arcs...She became less of an amazing character. To be honest To me the real Beato, the one we all kmow and loved officially died in EP5 and he ones in EP6 and beyond are just are Beato's that gain "memories" that is all.

Bern is only good in a single episode (seven) and Ronove and Virgilia are nice characters but have the depth of a puddle. Will and Lion were fine until EP8 and Lambda has a good amount of depth. Beatrice is better than all of them, though.

Ep V MC was Shion
Ep VI MC were K1 and Rena
Ep VII MC were Rika AND K1. He got as much story as Rika
Ep VIII mc were Takano and Hanyuu, but everyone got a decent amount of focus at some point.


The only Rika-novel was Rei, but it makes sense since it was about giving closure to Rika character

I really liked the idea of Beatrice as a cumulative concept, held up by many people, that gains existence and sentience.

If anyone has read the non-fiction book, I Am a Strange Loop, it's also really cool that Beatrice could be seen as a sort of self-perpetuating higher consciousness of Yasu. And this leads her into joining the realm of Bern and Lambda. Then when you get into the Dante's Inferno references and such, she's an awesome character.

I actually really liked Beatrice as a character, at least how she was in the first 4 Episodes. She actually seemed like a fun kind of woman, what with the trolling, laid back attitude, etc.

Aside from the whole "watching your family die over and over" thing she had going with Battler, she actually has quite a likable personality to me.
