You'll get mixed in with all the other losers out there. The school bully, the jock, the dropouts, the druggies. The military is a breeding ground for these types of fucktards.

20 here, not in as bad shape as some of you guys I guess. Have been out of work for a couple years, but going to school. I've had about a month of though for winter break and am pretty bored. I've been telling myself for the past four years or so that this was the life I wanted, but I don't care about video games anymore, there is only like one good anime a season, and I don't have the attention span for many VNs anymore. Most threads on 4chan as a whole make me cringe and hate myself but I keep coming back because it's all I've known these past few years and I fail at social interaction.

It's just hard to turn things around. To get in the game after living this lifestyle of virtual entertainment my whole life. It just sort of happens, I guess. Get suspended for not meeting minimum grade requirements. "Forget" to sign up for classes. Sabbatical years. It just adds up.

That's how it was in my case, anyway.

Hrmm. I suppose in a way you'd be right, but I'll at least be able to take the certification exam for the profession I'm interested in.

I'll try to get SSI once I'm fully backed into a corner. If that doesn't work I'm probably just going to die

It's not odd at all, most people I know graduated when they were 30ish.

I don't know what major you are in, but the average student who takes 4-5 classes a semester will take 5-5.5 years to graduate in any engineering or science major at the college I graduated from. 6 years is not bad at all.
The average for engineering students at my school is 6 years, but >80% of people work.
In order to get through in 4 years I had to take 2 semesters of 8 and 9 classes at once.
be worried if you start slipping into the 8 year range, unless you only go to school and don't work.

that's good, as long as you have found something you like to do. the longer you stay at community college, the worse off you get. If you are going for a trade usually it is a bonus to have even an associate's degree.

For the people joining the Army:
it would be much better to push yourself through school a bit and then see if you still need the army for motivation. if you do, you can attempt to join as an officer, or at least a higher ranking recruit that gets a much better pay and job. I was warned not to join the 'reserve' or other agencies the armies recruit from though - they always get bottom of the barrel jobs, so be careful about that, since it isn't 'free money' anymore.

just a cubicle working wage slave who comes from an army family here.

Best of luck to you my friend.
A few hours ago in a thread that ended up deleted due to childish-argument-overload, I related a story about going from High School dropout NEET to mildly comfortable career guy, so it is possible.
Also, please keep in mind having a job doesn't mean you have to give up being a freak.... If anything it can help deepen your addictions and perversions.

Anybody know of any communes that aren't all about farming and shit? It'd be cool to find one where you just split the costs evenly with a group of people (that way you could pay for a decent place with a minimal job) and do whatever you want otherwise.

2011 marks the beginning of the 3rd year of my working life in the office. The money earned so far is good, but I feel like a cow when I drive back home everyday.

I work at Target. It's okay, beats my old jobs. They give breaks when they say they will which I greatly appreciate.

One day I wish to be a Veterinary Technician with an Avian specialty. It won't pay very well but I'll be doing something that I can be passionate about which is more than I could ever ask for.

Those are called "college dorms". And they don't come cheap anyhow.

Just look for anyone with a hispanic name looking for roommates.
