I love BRS, but something bothers me about this fig, specifically her left leg. Just look at it, it's weird.

I think Dead Master looks better. Actually I didn't even like the BRS anime ver, I think Akeji's stuff is much more appealing, but whatever..

It's not like the figures maintain the texture and tone of the original drawings. I like huke, too, but if you're just basing it on the pose, then you're in for a figure that's awkward looking, because really, some of the poses huke uses are not very good looking in 3D.

I like the cannon and blade BRS versions over the BRS anime ver.

The anime ver also had quality issues, which explains why Amiami tried offing them for 2000 yen a piece.

It doesn't bode well for the series of figures, or the sculptor. The sculptor sculpted a figure which could not have been produced properly by GSC, yet Akeji sculpted one which could.

I don't know about DM anime ver, but this figure in particular has a fucked up leg. We rat on Griffon figs, it's time to rat on a GSC fig.

Do you realize GSC payed for the OVA with the intended purpose of hype and having more characters so they could make figurines of.

GSC pretty much created the demand for BRS so they could sell their figurines, nendos and figmas ... the OVA simply existed because there was only two different BRS characters illustrations.

Now we will see a PSP BRS RPG ... why? because its a fad and GSC is looking for more characters so they can milk it, the PSP game will work wonders for that.

Oh and if someone is going to say "U Mad" ... well a bit, this whole thing is a fad created by GSC and it annoys me people are falling for it (did we need a OVA? do we need a RPG for the PSP?).

I just exclusively followed huke's art since before BRS, enjoyed his Halo stuff, enjoyed his MGS stuff, and enjoyed Steins;Gate when it was released for 360 (hell, I even decked my blog out with a few themes, because I liked it that much).

I have a friend who hates on stuff that is even remotely popular, but it's just silly. I have some really obscure shit that you've probably never heard of (entire collection of can'tHUE doujinshi, entire collection of PlatineDispositif games, entire collection of Alstroemeria Records material) but I don't buy them based on whether they're popular or not.

Alter Saber 1/6 Swimsuit Ver = 5600yen
Alter Saber 1/6 Maid Ver. = 7800yen
GSC Saber 1/6 Kyuujitsu Ver. = 6800yen
GSC Saber 1/7 Triumphant Excalibur = 9800yen

Saber Alter nº072 = 2800yen

Now 4 Nendo Petits.

Each 500 yen (even if I got the whole box just counting 4) = 2000yen

BRS Collection is as follows, prices are based on averages- assuming you can get some "deals" online:

BRS Original ver- 85USD
DM Original ver- 85USD
BRS Blade Ver- 50USD
BRS Nendo- 35 USD
DM Nendo- 35USD
BRS Figma- 27USD
DM Figma- 27USD

+
stuff in the making-
STR figma- 27USD
STR nendo- 35USD
STR anime ver figure- 85USD
BGS figma- 27USD
BGS nendo- 35USD
BGS anime ver figure- 85USD

Nendoroid Puchis set 1(BRS & DM) sold with DVD&Bluray will be about 40USD too.

TOTAL: 678USD- and those are "sale" prices, not even retail prices. Oh, don't forget about shipping!
am I forgetting any other figures?

White Rock Shooter figma will be bundled with the PSP game
Nendoroid Puchis set 2(Mato & Yomi schoolgirl vers) will be released too...

They are very defensive now, the oddest thing I see on their release is something from The Tatami Galaxy ... everything else is "safe", most releases are like that ... with the exception of Orchid Seed that is doing figurines based on Hentai Magazine/Series covers (like Brandish).

C'mon man, they are a company- this isn't "defensive" strategy, it's simply a surefire way to get profit.

>C'mon man, they are a company- this isn't "defensive" strategy, it's simply a surefire way to get profit.

Its not, Haruhi is or was popular but by keeping making them they ended up flooding the market back in 2008 so they stopped because they were just not selling that much anymore, the craze was gone or simply became dormant.

If you just keep making of popular characters and series at one point the market is flooded, also people still remain interested in old series ... like Urusei Yatsura (Figma Lum was released last year, I got her) because they are landmarks.

Its a question of balance, you can have a "popular" anime series that fails to sell figurines because it popularity was caused by other reasons (I dont think Angel Beats will sell) and you can also have the reverse, series that have a cult following and so sell figurines despite not selling that well as a series (Valkyria Chronicles).

By going full defensive you are shooting yourself in the foot because you have to take risks, something that could sell at one time could not sell at all months later ... reading the market is not easy, even if you have some incredible popular characters (Saber, Kos-Mos, Ruri) you still have to be careful to not flood the market with offer.

Its still annoying as if they are the only shop available, as if HLJ, HS or PlayAsia do not exist.

Also they are PayPal only for international shipment that cuts down on a few figurines that happen to be "mature", amusing enough they list Giga Pulse that I *DOUBT* they accept international orders for them, no idea were they stand on other figurines as I recall Hobby Search PayPal sweep that removed ALL "adult items" from their English site.

Good thing HLJ still accepts credit cards and so its safe from PayPal bullshit, the only thing I would complain a bit is how HLJ have the habit to delist things and remove their pages after being sold out, understanding in a way since its not as if they can sell it anymore but kinda messes up searches.

Now, I've been meaning to get clear cases like these, but I just can't find them locally. Anyone know of any places that do?

I'm starting to be more selective on the figures I buy just so my room doesn't turn into this. Their collection is impressive, but it's just so much of a clusterfuck to me.

Try the container store if there's one near you.

Yeah, after a while they would seem to drown each other out. I've tried to stay away from buying figs smaller than 1/8; the smaller ones like nendos just tend to pile up since they're cheap.
I also almost never have more than one fig of a character unless it's like Asuka or something. It feels weird to have a bunch of one character.
