Umineko, Higurashi, Ever 17, Never 11, 999, Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo (This one is 18+ though)

Umineko and stuff are all like murder/mystery, not really that romantic, incase that's what you're looking for. Umineko is also very, old fashioned, uses onscripter with just text over the page, no text box, voice acting, etc.

What is your reason? Are you choosing a VN for someone else, or do you just don't like any porn?

If it's just for yourself, you can easily fast forward text in pretty much any VN. If you willing to pass up even the excellent titles in order to avoid a few sex scenes, VNs probably aren't for you.

However, if the VN is meant for someone else, my suggestion would to go on vndb, search the tag "no sexual content", and sort by popularity.

Narcissu and especially Planetarian are not only great, but short and free of adult content.
