Hey /jp/, who is your all-time favorite Touhou and why? This is a serious question and I'm more interested in the whys than anything else. I'm sure there have been threads like this but this one is mine and I wasn't there for the others. Thanks.

For me it's seriously a toss up between Suwako and Aya. I think I lean more towards Suwako though. She's really cute looking, I love her outfit. She's kinda goofy but also kind of a badass. Although ultimately she's a failure and that kind of hits home with me.

Youmu, because she is the softest. Cute, warm elegance.

Somehow my opinion might change soon. Since Yuyuko has been lately in my dreams. Maybe too much actually.

I like that most touhous are bros. They do truly brotastic things. And the funny thing is it seems this is fan work affecting canon, since it wasn't always that way. But yeah, so many cute little bros.

Touhous that can teach me something (Keine, Patchouli, Nitori, Alice, maybe Ran and Yukari.)

Touhous who have undergone terrible hardships or lead difficult lives (Yuyuko, Mokou, Satori etc.)

If I had to choose my favorite of all time, that would be Marisa. Because she's just too awesome. Does magic and shit and is a kleptomaniac. Too awesome for our world that's why she's in gensokyo. And she's a bro. Seriously first thing I would do there is to invite her for a drink.

And I think Tenshi, Okuu and Mokou are badasses too

For me it'd be between Utsuho and Reimu. Okuu would be it if she didn't have such little backstory other than ''she woke up after a long sleep and suddenly the Earth Palace appeared'', I like how she's the embodiment of galactical destruction hopped onto the feelings of a girl, not to mention her ridiculously exaggerated outfit, badass.

I like Reimu because of her relaxed and carefree nature, despite her situation she still resolves incidents and I like determination and fullfillment. I like characters who are relaxed but at the same have their own personality.

It's better not to have a grudge against a Touhou, since then you won't be able to get the full experience by enjoying whatever fanwork comes related to such character.

First time I saw Sakuya I was simply thinking, oh sweet, it's a maid, awesome. The more I got into Touhou though, the more I began to like her. She's a bit cold at first, but warms up as time goes on. She possesses a certain wit about her that I can appreciate and she has a cool, mysterious aura to her.

Seriously, though, actually being able to state your reasons for choosing your favorite only means you did not do it out of love (moe, if you wish, though I'm reluctant to use the word given the amount of /a/utists around). You don't love because. You love in spite of.
