The one thing I really don't like about ep8 spoilers is this, and just so it's clear I haven't read ep8. My problem is that Battler helped his parents in anyway shape or form. That may be the conclusion of Episode 7, but as I stated several times already: that cannot be applied in Episode 8 at all.
Once for all: the whole murder game was only some little game Bern has prepared for Battler and Beato, as a stalling method so Ange may rebel against Battler's "game".
1) A lot of rules do not make sense with Beato's games. More importantly, the fact "no one can use the master key, except their respective owner" and so forth are not practical. Bern stated clearly she made these rules to oversimplify her tale.
2) There is absolutely no character build up whatsoever: Bern has exposed straight the discoveries and murders setup
3) Battler's behavior is not only not convincing, but also go against Virgilia's red (which does state games etc)
4) Battler and Beato were fired up by this gameboard, and invited every denizens of the Golden Land to challenge it, despite it could very well backfire at them if Ange learns about it later on. Basically: this does not represent the truth, or has a chunk that is wrong.

Of course, I do not claim that "there is no way for Rudolf and Kyrie to be the culprits", but the whole deal with them PLUS Battler is nonsensical at best. Suffice to say, there are odd points regarding Battler, such like being alive and so forth. But Bern's little show is definitely not part of the beato's games.
So claiming the "mystery portion" of the franchise is solved like that is just not credible."

It's from AS, but it was written by one of the few people I would trust.

EP7 Tea Party is the truth, but we aren't shown everything on purpose.

EP8 game is half truth and half lies, but from combining it with EP7 we get the full story.

Kyrie and Rudolf killed everybody, Battler "joined" them to save his ass (everybody else was already dead anyways), he was send to kill Shannon but Yasu was already dead, then he tried running away in boat but didn't make it and almost drowned (scene with Beatrice on the boat is in his head).

Really, the fights in Episode 8 were, in my opinion, some of the best in the series. Think of the Beato vs. Virgilia fight in Episode 3, or the fight in the Episode 5 ???. There was some character development in the first few episodes, but after the first three or so its thrown out the door in order to introduce MORE CHARACTERS AND MORE CHARACTERS AND MORE CHARACTERS. R07 really needed to condense the cast, especially the magical characters.

For example, Bernkastel and Erika should have been combined into a new character: Bernkastel. You wouldn't need to change the story that much and it would have made the conflict Battler had with her much more meaningful since it wouldn't just be some mook that came out of nowhere.

Maybe its not that he added to many characters, its that he would add a new character, the new said character would have about 3 lines and then he would just forget about the character just to add another. he also didn't give enough first person view on one character, we never see someones thoughts like we did with k1, in Higurashi we were the character,in umineko every thing is always told in 3rd person so everything always feels bland.

I've heard many things about it, like Battler dying of old age and going to "the Golden Land". On other instances I've read Tohya, even after recovering his memories, didn't want to go back to being Battler; so, the final scene was an allegory for him saying good-bye to Battler, since he planned on living as Tohya.

That's the thing; she didn't _change_ the script. She wrote what would happen ahead of time, and simply had to get Lambda to/trick Lambda into acting out the first part of it, which would cause the rest to occur. Of course she didn't fill in all the details of how Lambda would be defeated ahead of time, but that's how writers work sometimes; they write out the basics, then fill in the details later.

And anyway, it's not like Featherine is all-powerful; even though she was able to watch, she couldn't do anything to assist Bernkastel against Battler, because she was too busy using her power to wrap up the stuff with Lambda.

Not quite. It's confirmed that Eva, Battler, and Yasu survived to October 6th, but that Yasu commits suicide soon after. Going by Ange's reaction to what she read in Eva's diary, the crime most likely had Rudolf and Kyrie as major players, so was similar to what happened in the Episode 7 ???, and everyone else is pretty much confirmed dead. Bern's red text effectively ruled out anyone returning to Ange, with Battler being the only exception because he was no longer Battler when he was reunited with Ange, only someone who happened to have Battler's memories.

For those talking about levels of fiction, and how in-universe fiction "doesn't matter":

Consider a fictional series. To use an example, OreImo. In it there are several other fictional series mentioned and referenced, such as Meruru and Maschera. However, the majority of the time is not spent on them.

Now suppose the series was so popular, or the producers were so crazy, that they decided to produce Meruru in the real world, just like it is in the original series. Credit is given to the in-universe creators, not just the creator of the original series. Events and characterization that are mentioned and brought up in the original series are faithfully included in the spinoff.

So, why would the spinoff be considered more "real" than the in-universe Meruru? They're exactly the same, are they not? If you watched it, would you still not care about the characters just because it's a fictional work within another fictional work?

In my opinion, the main reason people seem to have trouble treating fictional works inside fictional works the same way they treat normal fictional works, that is, treating the characters as "real" despite obviously knowing they aren't, is because most of the time those characters aren't really fleshed out as much as the characters in the topmost fictional work. The focus is normally on the outer layer, not on inner layers inside the work. Ryukishi just inverted it in Umineko, with the inner work(s) having more focus than the outer one.

Or maybe this way of thinking is strange, and I'm just crazy.

Well it kinda allows fans to mess around with the world of Umineko and play aorund with it. I mean not that they wouldn't do it if the catbox was opened but it still leaves a lot of possiblities for the fans to have fun with it (doujinshi etc.) Making up several ways for the conference to play out also sounds like a fun idea to me...

That's perfectly fine. In fact, Shannon and Kanon would be quite pleased if you did that. After all, they do want to be considered individuals. In fact, they'd probably like it even better if you actually wrote a Rokkenjima mystery where them being two different people would be required to solve the mystery.
