Shiraishi was correct in that the meaning of tsundere has changed. It used to indicate a noticeable shift from total tsuntsun to total deredere. Now it just refers to any character who isn't absolutely deredere 120% of the time. The word has become abused and overused. So Anon, before you brand another character a tsundere, think: is this character experiencing an actual shift in personality overtime, or is she just a two-faced bitch?

About the tsundere trope...I think that too many characters are being written like this, actually, and it's starting to get so that almost every series has a two-faced, MPD bitch on the casting list. Because of course the subtle shift in personality that was once typical to tsunderes became this Two-Face like, dramatically different shift from Bad Girl to Good Girl in one fell swoop.
