ITT: we discuss comparatively bad Touhou themes.

Rumia's theme whatever the fuck it was called was pretty bland.

I'd also nominate "U.N. Owen was her?" for most overrated. It's catchy enough but there are tons of better touhou songs out there

It's pretty great as far as general video game themes go, but when you're comparing it to the whole Touhou music collection and pieces like "Border of Life" and "Lunatic Princess", it's pretty bland.

I disagree, it more than lives up to its tag of the first spell card theme and set the pace for the rest of the game. Plus it has a nice 'dangerously but clueless' vibe which goes well for her.

Then again, I prefer NecroFantasy and Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17 over NecroFantasia and Chinese Tea, so my opinions really ain't worth much.

I'm not much of a musician or composer, but i'm curious what is it ZUN does with all his music that makes it so catchy and memorable?? Its because they are played on his keyboard. Its main track + "effects". His main track is simple so its easy to remember and repeat in memory - you can remix it or try play it yourself. After 3-4 times you heard it you could even try to whistle it. Thats why there are so many remixes of his songs.

PoFV had a pretty weak overall Touhou soundtrack.

Although for some reason, crowslut's theme redone in rock or metal mixes makes it sound awesome.
