Not exactly. Well, it sort of is but not in the way most people say it is. It's a way people use to tell themselves that Yasu was justified in her wait for Battler. It makes the entire thing into a tragic misunderstanding instead of the more painful misinterpretation of feelings.
I like George a lot, but I don't get upset by the hate. For one most of it is just kidding around. Secondly, I like Yasu better and find all the indignation on her behalf sort of endearing.
I don't think there was a letter, but I do think George was deliberately trying to hurt Shannon by misinterpreting her question and deliberately rubbing it in that she had been forgotten, which is just as mean spirited and cruel as hiding a letter in the first place. George's pursuit of Shannon started out from a very ugly, jealous place where hurting her for not falling all over him was more important that helping comfort her when she was so miserable it was all she could do to hold back her tears. He noticed her pain. He knew what it was about. And he was in the unique position to act as a bridge if he chose to. Instead her started kicking her when she was down in hopes of making her so miserable that he could swoop in. Which he did.
Let's not pretend George is a saint. If he was, I wouldn't like him as much.

He admits he knew that Shannon was in love with Battler. Then he starts poking and prodding her.
"Are you lonely?" Well, if you know she's in love with him no shit she's lonely.
"Battler says he's never coming back!" George isn't a five year old. I think he knows when reading off a letter--which she didn't even get--not to start crowing about the thing that will hurt her more than anything. He could have left it at "he seems cheerful and happy" which could be construed as trying to be soothing. Instead he's constantly telling her that Battler's forgotten all about them and is never coming back, KNOWING she's around twelve years old and has a huge crush on him.

>> No.6699896

>>6699890
What else was he supposed to say? 'Lol don't worry he'll be back ASAP'. Saying Battler might be out spreading his wings or whatever is a typical George thing to say, he is obsessed with the transition between childhood and adulthood. He might have even been trying to cheer her up somewhat by assuring her that at least Battler is probably having a good time. Yes, he did think it was convenient for him, but that doesn't mean he rubbed salt in the wounds.

There's nothing saying she had imaginary friends by the time she's 19. After she met Battler, Beatrice and Gaap keep showing up only in her dreams (unless I'm forgetting something), it's more of a talking to herself thing, just with fantasy thrown in. And then she just plays pretend with Maria, Ronove and Virgilia never were her imaginary friends, they were Maria's, in a way, just like Yasu's Beatrice herself.

Ideally, he could have offered to get in touch with Battler on her behalf, but since he was gunning for that underage poon, that's expecting a little much.
Instead of focusing on what Battler said, why not focus on how she feels about it and comfort her? Why not change the subject? George is good at that. Instead he deliberately rubs it in like making a thirteen year old little girl cry is the highlight of his week.

>> No.6699920

>>6699909
You say as if it's natural for George to be a dick to Shannon because he's jelly and mad.

If you think that would be the natural approach, then it's not really a bad thing George did at all.

He admits he had those feelings, but that doesn't mean he let those feelings corrupt how he was acting.

>> No.6699931

Looking it from George's perspective, maybe he actually was trying to smooth it over? He doesn't know how Shannon will react. Even though he thought they might be dating, Battler never came back and never sent her a letter, he might have thought they weren't so serious. He really had no way of knowing Shannon would react so seriously, nobody would expect that from what you would normally see as a little crush.

I don't think ridding religion from the world will really cure things, but a disorganized general belief in bullshit by a society is better than a hugely organized one. On the one hand, I know that. And most of them don't know that what they subscribe too is called agnostic atheism. On the other, they really do get off on it and are viewing the situation with a warped idea of the chance behind it, when they hold atheists as equal to agnostics.

The problem with religion is not so much the belief in a god as it in the belief in a god who has laid down books of strict rules that you must follow. There is an argument that it's to teach morality, but the old testament, which the three largest religions of the world have base in, is famously immoral, and morality existed as its own, intellectual study long before it was ever linked with religion. Now, someone who says "I KNOW god doesn't exist" is being pretty irrational, but they're far from someone who says "I KNOW god exists, this is all about him, this is what he wants us to do, we must do this".

Ah, another one of the Dawkin's School for the Atheist Mongoloid.

Religion, by itself, can be quite harmless, even benign. It is people, organizations, the concensus, those who force their own law upon others, who are immoral.

Take for example, Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao. These were all atheists, and imposed their own secular law upon others. Atheist claims that atheism is not immoral, but the individuals, yet use this argument against religion. This is what we, the sane, call hypocrisy.

Although personally, I would still view saying to people that this god definitely exists without any proof somewhat immoral.

But that doesn't change the fact that the most popular religious texts, written by people, carry the notions that people should be strictly abiding by these rules. And the more organized those religions are, the more this applies.

And I don't think atheists are definitely going to be pure people and all the world's problems would go away if everyone was like them.

I want them all to be happy. Is that so much to ask? ;_;

> Lambda created this game just to trap Bern again.
Don't we eventually learn that she was trying to rebuild/repair Bern's heart with the game, or something?

I've never heard of that before. That wouldn't make much sense consider Lambda put Bern through the first hell, why would she try to repair that? Lambda may seem to put on a carefree act, but she's just as cruel as Bern. I don't think she wants to change Bern.

I've actually been getting the feel that lambda is becoming really nice in a weird way,
as weird as the super happy ending at the end of ep 6.
something's got to change.

I think it's Battler, since he has a chain around his neck. I don't recall anyone else who had that.
