Upload/request music using your browser: http://skully.hopto.org

Listen to the stream using your music player: http://skully.hopto.org:8000
If it lags/fails, please connect manually to one of the relays in the second post.

FAQ: http://skully.hopto.org/playing.php?page=faq

IRC: irc.rizon.net #jp-radio

If the stream is full, please connect to one of the relay servers.
More information about the stream is in the second post.

>> No.6689032

As of right now, it's possible to upload both MP3 and OGG files, but keep in mind OGG files do not properly display their tags on the site. This means that it'd be best to remove any Japanese from an OGG file before uploading it, if possible.

As always, feedback is always appreciated. Post any error messages you get, post opinions, suggestions, whatever.

Main server holds 7 users. There are a number of relay servers up that automatically redirect you when the main server is full, so don't worry. If you are not automatically redirected, you can manually connect to them. There's a page on the main site to check what relays are currently up.

Here's a list of the currently known relay servers:

You can still submit logo's for the website. Make sure it's 300x100 and I'll make sure it's in the rotation. Lets see some of that /jp/ creativity.

Also, if you'd like to join our Skype chatroom, you can search for Jaypee Radio. Once you add that account, you should be accepted to the chatroom shortly. It may also be a nice idea to let us know in the thread that you've added the radio account, so we can get to your request faster.

/jp/ Radio is created for /jp/, by /jp/. If you guys have any questions whatsoever, feel free to ask them in this thread.

Take it easy, Anon.
Enjoy the stream!

I've been thinking about how we're gonna put C79 songs on the stream without getting my HD clogged up. My current plan is to search for C78 songs that have 0 play count and delete those. Probably, that won't be enough so I'm still trying to think of other options. Maybe delete regular songs that had 0 plays as well and have been around for at least a month and finally get rid of songs that aren't tagged at all (the ones where you have a number for the artist and a . for the title)

So I haven't been working on the stream for a while due to RL issues. It's great to see people are still listening to this. I really didn't expect the stream to last till 2011 or even beyond. Thank you for your support. As long as there are listeners, I will continue to do my best and keep this thing running. I'm glad this stream can make your life a little more less boring, even in these days. Happy new year in advance.

Would you consider implementing a simple thumbs up/thumbs down feedback system for each request on the Now Playing page?

Sometimes I wonder exactly what music /jp/ is actually enjoying versus what's just being put up with, but people understandably aren't inclined to spam "great song" every time they hear something above-average playing, and likewise most people don't jump for the skip button or complain loudly every time a song doesn't match their personal taste. But it would still be nice to register their opinion, and it'd be helpful for those of us uploading and requesting.

>> No.6731037

>>6731027
Second. Great idea.

>> No.6732102

>>6731027
I disagree, to put it simply I really dislike Youtube's system. It is an unnecessary system because it is self-wanking to get all excited over some other person other than you up-voting your favourite song, and partly because of the subsequent hurt feelings and buttrage that would occur when you see a down-vote.

If you have comments about any songs, just sage-post a comment in the stream threads. There's no need to permanently mark up the songs with stupid like-dislikes.

>> No.6732880

>>6731027
Not too sure about this. For one thing, how would we implement this, one vote per song per IP? Another thing is I'm sure you've heard some of the songs that are overplayed, and I'm sure you know people will spam vote those. I'll see what Pyon-pyon thinks about it, but he's been busy lately so don't expect an answer to this soon. Thanks for the suggestion though, we will look into it and take further comments on it.

>> No.6733787

>>6732102
>>6732880
I think it would only make sense as a one-vote-per-IP deal. Also, aren't we above YouTube? No one here is uploading shit to get attention. Hell, there's no way to unless you wanted to trip in the thread and brag about the songs you were uploading. If anyone was doing that, vote system or no, they'd just get told to fuck off and then it would be hurt feelings and buttrage anyways. It only takes one person to spam requests on a song, this would give a more realistic indicator of the listeners' feelings.

I, for one, would not be upset to see some thumbs down on my music. I assume most of /jp/ has similarly thick skin, it's not a big deal. If nothing else, it would be an interesting look into our preferences as I have no good idea of the taste of the listener base.

>> No.6734475

Mmhyeah, I see... I don't think it would be hard to implement such a system. If it's just gonna be numbers and nothing else (like hiding songs that have horrible rating, upvoting songs in the queue, top 10 of the highest rating songs) I don't see how people can actually rage about it. I'll think about it and see what I can do.

>>6732102
Uploading songs is anonymous so I don't see how people can get offended so easily by up/down votes in this setting. As I said, I'll think about it and write down any pros or cons that come to mind. If the system sux, it'll be gone before you can say 'youtubelike/dislikevotingsuxlololololol'

If there are pauses it's most likely because people upload songs with pauses. SAM does have a feature to get rid of the pause, and even to crossfade. I turned it off though, because it had problems with songs that had soft endings, or had a slight pause before the finale of the song.
