I'm actually not displeased at all. It always surprises me when people act like NEETs need to be unhappy, or assume that I am. I love being a NEET, and I've never been happier than I am now. Dude, I don't WANT eternal life, or an eternal afterlife. Eternal life sucks because, well, look at Mokou. Eternal after life? No thanks. I don't think you religious folk quite grasp the concept of eternity.

Think about this. You die, and assuming you follow the right religion (which isn't necessarily Christianity), you go to heaven. There you supposedly live in eternal happiness. Well, I submit that you can have to much of a good thing. If I was in heaven and able to eat my favorite food all the time, fuck 72,000 virgins, and play Touhou and watch anime all day, I'd get bored eventually. Admit it, you would too. Even if you're able to travel the whole universe and learn everything there is to know about it over billions of years, and then watch it collapse and Big Bang all over again and repeat its whole existence, that would only be the tiniest, most insignificant fraction of eternity. Fuck that shit, I'd be bored out of my fucking skull.

If you're talking about faiths where people are completely OBEDIENT to it, letting every aspect of their lives being controlled by it, that's not religion but a political tool. Religion is important in the lives of many people, and is probably the easiest thing to manipulate to gain control over people's lives. People take advantage of that, like they always have in history. But that's an issue of people being assholes and other people not thinking, not an issue with religion.
