Now that I think of it, Aina wasn't particularly strong
in her singing portion but she didn't screw up and was able to hit the notes relatively good.

she attacked the cue and was just really really in tune with the song. No question, the best out of the five singing wise this audition.

If there ever was you can't cut Tsunku stare down it might of been this.

Tsunku should be pretty happy with his finalist class with the exception of Minami maybe.

Perhaps I am making a cardinal sin by assuming just one recording session is the end all be all but I really didn't think Erina deserved to make it through on what we just observed there.

And I think old fags all know how one day can be really bad and then the next could be completely different in these auditions. But just going from what I saw in the episode I really think there are still just a possibility of 3 making it in at the most.

Kanon is strangely more of a lock in my opinion now, I think she is going to make it, she is a very interesting finalist, can dance very well, has a great form and a unique lower voice. But I can't help but feel like she could balloon up like Risako did, she just has all those attributes.

There is nothing more sure of Riho being selected at 9th Generation Musume, so her fans can start celebrating.

I'll say the wild card now is between Erina and Aina, which girl did Tsunku think had the base qualities he was looking for. Personally I see more potential in Aina but if Erina got her stuff together I think she'd be good too!

Phew, exciting morning! Now we wait until H!P Winter 2011....

Yea, interesting point about Kanon being a kids girl but I think you have to look at the vocal layout of Musume right now and then you can see how her voice being added is very possible, even if Gaki-san seems to have that vocal octave covered rather well.

That being said, the kids audition comment, I don't see her as being in any of the kids groups, there is just something about her that has the motor and the desire that I think Tsunku should pick up on.

Yea, I find it funny 2ch was immediately putting up a front against Mogi, although cruel, there is no way anyone watching that episode would say go with her...

In my opinion it is a harder case to distinguish between Aina & Erina. Erina being nice and taller, good dance moves but clearly just did miserably for the singing portion and looking particularly shell shocked.

I'm not really a big fan of audition videos but todays was really fun, I guess it just shows how important this audition is right now.

All pretty terrible singers, but some decent dancers.
If these 5 are the cream of the crop of over 9000 applicants then Tsunku was obviously not looking for talent like I hoped he would, if he was someone like Minami would've been kicked out 7 seconds after coming through the door.
But if he's looking for girls that are diamonds in the rough just stick them in Pro Egg with the rest of the children, let them incubate for a few years. That's the reason that whole thing was created.
Still a fun watch and I hope it gets subtitled with the quickness. I wanna know what Tsunku has to say.

Ughh, here comes angsty Maki post. One recording session of a C-ute song isn't the best measure in my opinion, the song doesn't really test all the peaks and the girls are merely there to try and mimic the sound style.

I guess you could say none of these girls blew it out of the water vocally, I'm ok with that assessment. After watching it over again, I think I was a little too harsh on Erina.

Her, Kanon and Riho are really good dancers, it is yet to be seen whether they can expand on those vocal chords.

And don't even thing for a second that it is the final analysis in just one viewing. Some girls aren't good at singing out of their vocal range.

Look at the initial Morning Musume lineup, in general the vocal dynamics were very timid and reserved for quite some time. And all the rejects like Mari and Nacchi, those girls took a while to blossom vocally.

Developing within Musume and developing with the Eggs are entirely different things.

There is a reason why some grow to become very strong idols because they are put under constant pressure and competition the moment the enter the group.

I do agree there are certain girls who are more suitable for the Egg path with the possibility of future use. Perhaps we will see that distinction made with the selection because a potential Musume entrance line I think has been demonstrated.
