>Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara characterizes people who read and write the restricted material banned by the Youth Ordinance Bill as "sad people with warped DNA."

How does this make you feel, /jp/, to know that you're suffering from warped DNA?

I already knew that, hence my sterility. However, that has nothing to do with /jp/

Feels like Ishihara is a senile man. Fyi, as a super-conservative he is about as logical and on-the-mark with what he says as the Tea Party; ultra-conservative Japs are just as stupid if not moreso than ultra-conservative Americans.

Also a geneticist I very much resent moronic politicians talking about DNA or genomes at all; implying that "warped DNA" has anything to do with anything sounds just as fucking stupid to me as Ted Stevens sounded describing the Internet as a "series of tubes".

I'd be really fucking worried if my DNA wasn't warped.
If all the DNA in one human cell was straightened out, it would be many inches long

Reposting what I said in the other thread:

Everyone has mutant DNA, that's how we evolve. There is no "superior" or "inferior" without first deciding on a standard.
...
DNA only roughly describes the direction certain things should develop in right? If you had two people with the exact same DNA, chances are their brains and nervous system in general would be quite different when you think about connections between individual neurons (DNA does not describe things to such a detail), and the actual synapses formed depend on those prenatal factors as well as pretty much the entire life the person experiences. DNA plays some role, but it's not nearly as much as you'd expect. Oh, and in the case where he was claiming that people with differences in sexuality from the norm was due to them having "corrupt" DNA, that's mostly bullshit, as evidence points that the child's DNA only plays a minor role in sexual development, while prenatal factors (such as the mom's immune system, among others) play a much greater role, and of course, to some degree environmental factors.

In the case of "otaku", a lot of factors are just environmental and have little to do with your genetic code.

He's just going for a falacious argument trying to claim otaku's (or *insert other classes of people he doesn't like*) are like that because of genetic factors, so he could label them as "defective" (even if DNA mutations cannot be classified as "defective" without first defining some standard to judge the superiority or inferiority of the mutation) without being seen as a bigot with a pre-war 1930's Japanese mentality. Shame on him.
