I'm posting this topic in here because its totally related to the future of japanese otaku culture.

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm10102121
This guy 石原慎太郎 has pass a new law to ban loli porn, violence , psychological materials from all manga, games and anime.

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12899000
last part of this clip, he says "drawing sex scene in manga don't cause hurt to kids? Stoopid fools! tell them to go clean they re heads"

>> No.6635326

>a new law to ban loli porn
well... we can always draw short women with flat chests...
>violence , psychological materials
WHY

>> No.6635325

The funny thing is, this same guy used to write novels about torturing and raping children.

Got some skeletons in the closet, I presume.

Although really he's a fucking retarded conservative, like they are pretty much anywhere. People don't seem to realize how shitty it is having right wing politicians in control in Japan... imagine if the fucking Tea Party elected a president and you'll get a better idea. Ultra-conservative Japs are almost as stupid as they are, and Ishihara is an ultra-conservative.

>> No.6635331

Dang it, I guess I'll now have to get my loli porn from Korea.

>> No.6635329

Wait I thought it didn't affect 18+ content?

>> No.6635334

I bet the west is actually taking this way more seriously than the japs are.

>> No.6635339

>>6635329

It doesn't. Honestly most /jp/ material is completely unaffected by Bill 156.

The real problem is that because basically it relies on arbitrary opinions on approving or denying something, it gives lawmakers a blank check to kill anything they want off the air at a moment's notice, because you can't publicly broadcast "adult" material. This bill could be cited to take Doraemon off the air if they wanted to. It's downright unconstitutional.

Don't be stupid.
None of those shit are ban. They just need to tag them with R+18 if they want to show sex and violence stuff.

Sorry for all the greentext but really, this is just silly.

What if half of the incoming comiket has half of their content removed because of this law?
Or umineko season 2 canceled ...or...

>> No.6635355

>>6635347

Bill goes into effect in July.

If even more companies drop out of the Tokyo Anime Fair (in March, and like half the companies that were going to be there, including basically all of the big fat cats like Kodansha and Kadokawa), the bill will probably get its balls trimmed off or just flat out repealed before the summer Comiket.

>> No.6635356

>>6635347
Stop overreacting, most comiket porns are tag with 18+ so they are totally not affected.
Perhaps naruto or hitman BL fan fictions for kids might be removed but I bet none of us here read them anyway.

Everything with the slightest of questionable content, whether it be sexually suggestive, or violent, or in other ways corrupting of youths, can be rated 18+. Things already rated 18+ will not be affected, many things will cease serialization because becoming 18+ will kill their sales.

Fanservice shows will obviously not exist from now on, so you won't see Sion posting any new girls. Companies that have 18+ productions but also rely on sales from other productions might have to close down. I'm thinking /jp/ will hurt a lot less from this than /a/ will though. They're going to lose their big three and stuff like that, while slice of life shows like K-ON that are completely benign with be left alone.

it's a matter of "can be regulated," not "will be regulated."

they won't impose very strict regulations on children's/all-ages stuff like the big 3.

i can't think of anything that would be affected on /jp/ either, especially since so much of what we see here is internet-based.

They can't do much about Umineko VN. It's not like it's sold in stores. Maybe you could get any further anime/manga of it rated 18+, too much glorification of violence. Since they have such terrible sales to begin with, that would be enough to stop them being made.

This bill could potentially -

Kill the Big 3
Kill basically all typical action-shonen aka cancer bait
Promote a flock of mangaka to new Seinen publishers and possibly expand on their more mature/thoughtful sides since
Get teens out of the anime scene
Cockblock Sion shit
We go round up the survivors from /a/ and show them that VNs are analogues to choose-your-own-adventure anime, only you get to fuck the girls instead of posting about fucking them
/a/ could be majorly cured of cancer and/or just annihilated of all but /jp/ or /jp/-worthy posters

From an industry standpoint it could be terrible, but from a /jp/ standpoint...

God is in his heaven, all is right with the world

You have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.

Seinen is not restricted to adults, it's simply AIMED mainly at adults. It's not 18+, any kid or teenager can pick up a seinen mag at a regular street corner, and many do. This stuff is sold everywhere.

If labeled 18+, this gets relegated to adult corners of specialized stores. The entire youth market is shut out, so there goes a chunk of your sales. Any adult who picks it up because it's convenient and would not wnat to go to specialized stores to buy stuff explicitly marked as "adult material" would also stop buying, so there goes another chunk.

Seinen is already economically shaky as a demographic. It doesn't need any help selling less than it does, and this would murder it.

I find it humorous how these ignorant people say they act to protect the delicate minds of children under the assumption that this poor argument which has no actual backing from any solid long-term research gives them the justification to trample over the rights of others in order to reach their goals. The fact that they so firmly insist that they are in the right despite this should lead to a critical analysis of whether or not such a person is even fit to be in a position in which they can guide public policy. It has never and will never be appropriate for a government to dictate how individuals spend their private time.

>> No.6635597

Explain to me how the hell will fanservice shows be affected by this?

They take 99% of their profits from online BD/DVD and merchandise sales.

Only widespread shonen/shojo manga titles will be affected by this.

>> No.6635629

Rape and sexual harassment are very, very often unreported crimes with extremely low conviction rates, even in countries where women are considered more free and liberated. What do you think it's like in Japan? If you have a principled position, stick with that - statistics won't save you on this one.

>> No.6635631

>Only widespread shonen/shojo manga titles will be affected by this.

I have a bad feeling about this. Shounen, shoujo and eromanga probably won't have to fear detrimental effects through this.
Seinen is where most of the damage will be done, and it's sad since that's what most of the interesting stuff is.

Japan is a country ruined by its fusty elders, and an adapted youth.

if you were to make a previously non-18+ into 18+ you'd have to go to the local porno shop to buy manga
