I don't think I'll ever learn to live with Sakuya. Especially not when I'm fighting against the spirits and putting up with Komachi's micro attacks.

Kind of, but not necessarily. Use them often and defensively, but you can only afford to spam them if you're great at keeping your Bpoints up. Otherwise, you'll be very vulnerable.

No. If you're going to spam the lv 2 attacks, wait until you need them before you get hit. Later on this will probably equate to using them immediately, but you should always try to get the most out of each.
An important fact to add: EVERY lv2 attack creates returnable bullets. Careless usage of them WILL shoot you in the foot, especially for characters with fast bullets (Aya, Merlin) and characters with lots of bullets (Reisen, Reimu, Sikieiki, Yuka, Medicine)

Probably Reimu. However most also consider her to be cheap. Same with Sikieiki.

The characters I call 'offensive' rather than 'defensive' or in between are Youmu, Sakuya, Yuka, Sikieiki, and Reimu. But that's just me.

Check the pastebin for solutions. Frequent fixes:
Delete the cfg file
Make sure PoFV starts normally without Adonis
Use compatibility mode if you're in Vista/7. Give Adonis and PoFV the same compatibility setting.
Get a 100% unlocked save file

Question for anyone good with the game mechanics.

When you get hit, you gain a bit of power, usually more if you lost more life points. However if you get dropped down to 1/2 life, you either gain max power or you gain nothing at all. What determines if you gain anything from getting knocked down to 1/2 life?

It wasn't some annoying thing like getting your charge off the same time you were hit, was it? If I'm sure the next hit is going to take me to half an orb then I'll be sure to give bombing extra consideration. Never had a problem with the meter not filling all the way when I'm not able to charge anything.

I remember something else about using the bomb around the same time I picked up the gauge item, and ending up with the meter filled to the first level.

It's a bug. There's a small delay between getting hit to last life and getting full meter. If you release a charge during this delay, you won't get your full meter. Kinda sucks, especially when it happens because you're firing a L2 juuuust a bit too late. The only ways to avoid it are to be super safe with your charges and always release early, or if you're charging and get hit to last life, hold down the button until you see the full meter come in. The latter will probably make you waste all the meter on a L4 anyway, but it's better than nothing.

Honsetly, people can "hack" into your computer and do whatever they want, yes.
But those that want to are too stupid to know how, and those who know how to do it are mature enough not to. In no small part because the "hacker" can be traced back and whoop-dee-doo you call the police and get money.
I've been playing games with /jp/ by posting my IP and nothing ever happened. It's the same kind of risk like when walking across the street, there is a chance that you'll encounter some psycho driver that just drives over you because he feels like it, but seriously... chill out.
