Do you suffer from insomnia, /jp/?

>> No.6596736

Only if I have important things to do the next day. Like right now. 5:50 currently, got an appointment at 10:15.

>> No.6596759

Nope. Though at the moment I'm somewhat nocturnal

>> No.6596765

I've started being an imsoniac recently, it kind of sucks. School is about to end though so it won't matter much soon.

yes... top point where I sleep in day and wake up in night when its already dark.

>> No.6596789

Nope, but I do suffer from DSPS.
Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome, a circadian rhythm disorder where you're sleep-wake cycle is shifted later than the average person (normally around 4 hours). I don't even feel the least bit tired before 2am on normal nights. If I could choose my sleep hours, it would be from like 3 to 10. People don't understand, "just go to bed earlier." They don't believe me when I say if I try to go to bed at 11, I will lie in bed awake for hours.

>> No.6596790

I wish I could only ever be awake at night, and never during the day.

Yup, or more extreme distortion of sleeping rhythm. Without regular physical strain, such as work and excercise, I start slipping rapidly out of it.

Like now. Woke up at 6 pm on wednesday, fell asleep 5 pm yesterday. Woke up at 2:30 am today, currently 7 am, the sun's about to rise, and I'm about to fall asleep again.

I went to sleep at 9pm, hoping to wake up at a decent time in the morning. Later I wake up and look outside. It's still dark so I try to go back to sleep but it doesn't work. I look at my clock. It's only 11:30pm, same day. Goddammit.

>> No.6596799

Not really - I sleep during the day, but that's more my passing out at various times than anything. I haven't willingly gone to sleep for months.

My sleep schedule is constantly shifting. I can manage sleeping and waking up at a normal time for a week, 2 tops and then it starts slipping again. I only ever try to get it normal if I actually have things to do during the day, and it takes me a few days to get it back to normal.

No, I enjoy every night of it. When all the underage /b/& go to bed, the raids stop and general shitposting (even among the other boards) drastically decreases.

I've had this problem for a long time.

>> No.6597017

I stay awake in bed for at least 2 hours before I can fall asleep, no matter how tired I am. I've had this problem my whole life, but it's gotten worse as I grow older. I have to constantly move around too, or my limbs start to feel like they're being electrocuted. I'm really suspicious of drugs that affect brain chemistry in general, but sometimes I wonder if I might need them. It doesn't help that I've had a history of psychiatric problems, so I can't distinguish whether the problem is chemical or mental.

I've got the opposite of insomnia.
Not that falling asleep randomly shit, like i'll be awake for about 10 hours and then i'm out for about 18 or so on an average day. I've skipped entire days on multiple occasions.

Also something about daytime and people making noise outside of my room is just amazing for sleep. High school was the best sleep i've ever gotten in my life, I miss it.

>> No.6597122

I've had insomnia since I was a little kid. I was adopted and used to panic my parents would leave me in the night, hehe.

I'm on anti-depressants and my sleep cycle is all kinds of fucked up. Sometimes I'll be up for 24 hours straight and then sleep 12 hours or so. Right now, it's 5AM and I've only been up since like 8PM.

>> No.6597660

No insomnia.
I need 10 to 12 hours of sleep to feel good. but I Can stay awake 14 to 18 hours. So my cycle is always fucked up, and I'm tired.

Yeah.

It was all right in high school, because I could stay up for a few days on end and then sleep on the weekends to catch up. But by the time I left college, I had no way of predicting what time I would be awake or asleep for any given day. Today, even something as simple as scheduling the dosing for my medication is a nightmare.

I've used benzos, the z-drugs, antihistamines, a million different antidepressants, antipsychotics, bright light therapy, melatonin, white noise desensitization, and psychostimulants--to attempt to reset my day-night cycle. I've come to the conclusion that you can't reset what isn't there. Nothing works. Or it seems to, but stops after a week.

I've had the sleep EEG. The myriad blood tests. The MRIs. Because there's no obvious physical cause, and because I have a history of psychiatric disease, I'm not taken seriously. And attempting to treat the problem on my own has sent me to the emergency room once. Those were not the fun kind of hallucination.

I just know that if another doctor suggests I try working on my sleep hygiene, I'm going to strangle him with his fucking stethoscope.

Nope.
I just like to sleep about 4-6 hours. Well sometimes I sleep like 14 hours after a week of bad sleep or after staying up for 2 days. Sleeping is boring and somehow not nice unless you are REALLY tired.

>> No.6598812

>>6596789
Of course you will not be able to sleep early when you've not been awake for long enough to be tired yet.
What you can try to do is not sleep for a night (or day), stay awake up until the point where you want to sleep and then go to bed.

That works for me. At least in the short term as my cycle always tends to shift forward after a few days/weeks until it's back to where I started which means going to bed early in the morning and waking up in the afternoon. Heck, even after that it tends to shift forward unless I'm careful.

>> No.6598844

Not really. Sometimes I can't get to sleep because I'm too horny. Is there a medical term for that?
