I bet the meido felt obliged to help the board whenever it was spammed.
Considering how that was/is pretty much all the time, I figure the meido actually sacrificed a lot of sleep to be able to help out longer, and then suffer the consequences afterwards and become outright out of it afterwards.

And considering how we at /jp/ often have irregular sleep schedules, I could figure that the meido might be up for 26 hours or so without sleep, and then if there was spam on, perhaps pushing it even further.
That kind of stuff is hard on you, especially when you feel obliged to help, and not to sleep.
