>> No.6569522

Touhou 12.3: Hisoutensoku, we just call it Soku.

You're gonna need a lot of practice if you wanna play us and not get raped, btw. Or I guess you could also lurk the Soku threads for other newfriends and play each other.

>> No.6569525

It is called Touhou 12.3-Hisoutensoku, search for a torrent.

>> No.6569526

>>6569513
I play the same as you except on my PS3.

>> No.6569527

Oh yeah wait up, also you'll need the previous fighters Soku's based off of, and need to link them up to access all the chars.

Otherwise you'll have like, 3 characters.

>> No.6569535

>>6569527
What are the other fighters called?

>>6569522
Thanks, but how hard can it be?
I'm sure itll just take a day for me to catch up to you /jp/ regulars.

>>6569526
might be picking up a PS# now because i dont want another 360 to just die again

Soku is based off of 10.5 - Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, which was based off of 7.5, Immaterial and Missing Power. Look up the rest on the Touhou wiki or other Touhou sites on how to properly set up your Soku to have a full roster. Also you can get a copy of a save that has all the spellcards unlocked, otherwise you're going to have to beat the game like, a couple hundred times (total) using a bunch of different characters.

They're the same engine/mostly same sprites except new characters get added along with altered/new moves, tweaks to characters/mechanics etc. As far as fighters go it's technically way better balanced than most but there are still some notably stronger chars.

And 2-3 joke-tier bad characters. Hong Meiling is the Dan of this game. Cirno is not much better.

Despite that I've still lost to good Hongs before.

Really fucking good (although, maybe only "good" by being a fucking cheap faggot) characters = Utsuho, Yuyuko, Suika, Reisen and especially Remilia. Truth be told though depending on matchup some of the supposedly mid-tier characters still kick stupendous amounts of ass once you master them, that's what I like about Soku, you don't have to be stuck with like 1 or 2 characters because the others are too different/bad for you to enjoy playing.

Except a well-played Tenshi would beat any other well-played character until she got nerfed

Did Reisen being good advent with 12.3? I swear the wiki said she was bottom-tier back in SWR except in the right hands.

Hey OP, some links you might find useful

http://www.nicovideo.jp/tag/%E6%9D%B1%E6%96%B9%E9%9D%9E%E6%83%B3%E5%A4%A9%E5%89%87

That's for finding Hisoutensoku videos on Nico. Watching other people play can help refine your own abilities

http://hisouten.koumakan.jp/

This is the wiki. You'll find a wealth of information on it

Everyone else appears to have answered your other questions adequately

Yeah, the latest version made Reisen viable and nerfed Tenshi and Meiling IIRC

IaMP is not needed for full roster. SWR has the full cast from IaMP, except for Meiling who returns in Soku.

Blah.. i judt dstarted to download IaMP

Thanks, that wiki seems like it will help alot

Tenshi rocks
Although actually not so much anymore. It's weird since I mean, Suika got nerfed too, but she used to be so goddamn OP that it doesn't seem to have cut her down much. Or maybe it's because they seriously gimped basically the one move I never used (236BC), and so everyone threw a shitstorm besides me. I still don't like the extended recovery they tacked on though but whatever, it's manageable (dare I say fair considering she used to be almost unstoppable)

>>6569562
Default Reisen (still) - not so good.
Reisen's alt moves - so good. As in, jesus fucking christ, so, so good.

Most of the wiki is inaccurate, uneducated opinions and unfounded speculation. Take nothing in it for granted; test it out yourself first.

>> No.6569590

>>6569579
Well, continue. It's a very different game than SWR/Hisoutensoku with a very different system, so it's worth trying out in its own right. It also has netplay. Few play it anymore, so on the plus side, lots of current people are inexperienced with it or out of practice since it's so different.

>> No.6569594

>>6569579
I think IaMP is better anyway

>> No.6569598

>>6569590
>>6569594

What they really need, is for the next version to have an alternate netplay mode where you can use IaMP's system (about as accurately as can be done still) if you both agree to it. Then hopefully everyone's happy except the 10.5 crowd.

Don't bother with IRC, it's full of drama queen autistics. Pic related, it's bellreisa.

>You're gonna need a lot of practice if you wanna play us and not get raped, btw.
The learning curve in soku is far from being steep, really. It's pretty fast to progress and beat more experienced opponents.
Nevertheless, it's really different from other fighters (be them SF, BB, MB), so you're going to start from scratch. No big deal, as I said.
I also find the game to be pretty balanced character-wise. Its biggest problem is how much the mechanics suck, or it's just my personal opinion regarding the gameflow and its lack of good press options.

>> No.6569616

>>6569601

Well I think there is already a dedicated Soku thread up (it's back on page 2), you can continue there / monitor that thread.

During this time of the day I don't think there's many people on. The population of people who play this game is very fragmented, eg dozens of small groups that rarely interact with each other since there's no dedicated servers etc.

During Winter Break we'll possibly get an uptick in players around here, though.

>> No.6569624

>>6569616
It's fragmented outside of Japan that is. Over there, Soku's very well-organized, with playerstats and big tourneys etc.

>> No.6569650

So do I, actually, but soku is fun too

20 characters in total. Well that's assuming you used the spellcard packs and all so you also have the bosses unlocked.

>> No.6569689

Hisoutensoku Hong did IIRC get buffed. She's still not top-tier or anything, but quite decent. Mediocre to weak projectiles, but good melee.

>> No.6569746

I really hope we get another Soku update soon. I'd love for a new patch with yet more chars.

If things were done according to my dream list the game would have like 50 characters though. so I guess that's asking a little much of Tas.

>> No.6570031

Ah yes, another worthless fan build from fighting games.

You said you would delete your thread, OP you filthy liar.
