hey /jp/
Do you like Touhou in serious settings (close to most zun games or like in Perfect Memento~ ) , funny/cute ones (most of fan mangas) or maybe other ones?

I like it dark, but under the disguise of cheerful girls flying and shooting bullets.

I would prefer Touhou/HP Lovecraft-verse.

>> No.6566172

>serious
>ZUN games

Haha, what. ZUN's settings are completely non-serious, even his "serious" manga. Hell, SSIB consisted entirely of a plot to steal someone's booze.

Perfect Memento is "serious", except that in the Afterword, Akyu says that she basically made all of it up because she was paid by Youkai to make them look cool.

Personally, I like it in the middle, like ZUN does: not completely silly (read: Inaba&Inaba), but not grimdark either.

I can enjoy a variety of settings honestly. I can't really say I prefer one or the other.

>> No.6566188

I like to think it's all funny and cute and everyone loves everyone until Reimu gets upset. And then everything goes to hell and she starts beating people up indiscriminately and everything gets serious until she beats up the right person.

>> No.6566189

I rather lie it serious.
It can be carefree, funny at times, but should remain sort of "realistic", at least in context.
No chibis, yukkuris, comedy or memes flying around, just average everyday stuff for the calm parts.
Full on seriousness for the true action parts though.

in my touhou everyone sits around drinking tea and making wordplay

Depends on what I feel like at the time.

What was that one serious doujin about Suwako's past, it was posted here a few months back. Had her being raped, losing the war to Kanako, rebuilding and whatnot.

I liked that.

>> No.6566224

I like the idea of a 'Yin/Yang' Gensokyo.

The Yang side's the one we're all familiar with; crazy girls firing lasers at each other, relatively innocent incidents that are generally resolved over tea, eccentric youkai just trying to have fun and get drunk, etc.

But on the Yin side, the Youkai don't look like little girls anymore. These ones look truly monstrous and utterly detached from humanity; it's very 'grimdark'. Innocence is lost, here. Most of the fights occur between males. This would be yet another division maintained by the borderbitches (perhaps the rest of Reimu's clan is on the Yin side, and they put her on the Yang side to protect her. I can easily see Yukari not telling anyone else about it).

I really like the canon setting so far, though, save for the moonbitches.
