So whats the general etiquette for finishing Touhou games? Since I started playing at PFS I've always played them from the start until I got a gameover over and over until I could do it all in one go.

My friend says its easier to play through to the end with continues and then finish it all in one go once you're used to it. I'd tried this but I think its more work.

So, 1cc only or finish it then move on to 1cc?

When I first work on a new Touhou game I do anything I can just to clear it on Normal, using anything and everything I can just to get some kind of clear (even though it's a guaranteed bad end).

Then, I go back to practice mode and master each of the stages, then it's easy for me to just go play through the game again, and usually within only a few attempts I'll 1CC it. Then I do extra (this could take a while). Then, after a couple more 1CCs/trying to get different ends etc I'll move up to Lunatic.

I'd also like to know the general etiquette and if there's any particular easier way to play Touhou. I hear a lot of people try to 1cc Hard, then move on to the others. I personally aim to 1cc Lunatic, then I take it easy with the other levels whenever I might feel like it.

Watch a playthrough of normal, beat normal. Move on to hard while playing for fun.

I personally use continues so that I can unlock stages for practice mode, but I don't usually have to worry about it.

When a new game comes out, I play Easy once with each character to familiarize myself with the plot/mechanics and for completion purposes.
Then 1cc Normal first try with all characters.
Play extra a couple dozen times because it's so gimmicky and not because it's difficult.
1cc Hard first try with most characters, maybe have to play 2 or 3 times with weird shot types.
1cc Lunatic after a week or so.

Except with UFO, fuck UFO's Lunatic, holy shit. That took me a few months...
