So did I...it was a great album, but the whole 'generation songs' thing made it feel kind of incomplete to me. I mean, I like stuff like that, don't get me wrong...but there weren't nearly enough new group songs. This album doesn't disappoint in that area, so to me it feels so much more well-rounded.

And honestly, I was slightly disappointed when Aichan's solo song was another ballad. I don't hate ballads...it's just that every solo song of hers so far has been a ballad. I will say that it's growing on me really fast, it's a beautiful song...but I was hoping for another CRAZY ABOUT YOU or something like that...

But really, I don't dislike that kind of thing. If they're too numerous it throws off the balance of an album, but obviously the quality of the individual songs isn't affected. When it comes to overall feel for an album, though, I want more group songs.
And after giving the album a few listens, Aichan's solo song has really grown on me...first impression was only okay, but it's actually closer to the kind of feeling I was hoping for than any other solo song of hers. A bit more energy would have been nice, but I still really like this...and I can tell I'm only going to like it more over time.

this is jpop, specifically hello project. it's a genre that is all about the individual hooks, not an album as a whole. the only album that has an overall feel to it is First Time, as you can hear any song from it and go "oh, that's from the first album", and that's only because it's not nearly as upbeat.

I totally get what you mean, but it's more that I simply like the feel of group songs more. Not about the tune or harmonies or whatever, just find that I can listen to an album all the way through and be more likely to enjoy each song equally if there's more group songs. Hard to explain exactly why, and thinking about it right now is making wonder why I even feel this way ww...but oh well.
Another thing this album has going for it is there's no song awkwardly tacked on the end, so to speak. P9D had Kanashimi Twilight, which just didn't feel right on a 9nin Musume album after two years with the group in that form, let alone in a tracklist position that made it feel like a near-afterthought...and the Chinese version of Ame no Furanai Hoshi de wa Aisenai Darou on 10 MY ME really didn't do much for me. I don't hate the song, but it had been used and overused in concerts so much that another version really felt unnecessary.
Things like that seem minor...but for someone like myself who prefers to ALWAYS listen to albums in their entirety, they can really put the whole thing off-kilter.

And, again, since I seem to really be ripping on the last two albums right now...I love P9D and 10 MY ME, no doubt about that. They're both great albums in their own right. But at this point in time I feel that Fantasy! is much more cohesive, and for my preferences that puts it a few steps above the last two Musume albums.

I liked the acoustic finish of Ame no Furanai Hoshi on 10 My Me but yea the fact that it was on two albums and multiple tours probably ruined it.

As for the complete album comment, I really felt that way about 10 My Me, it's one of the things I first noticed because some how each song being either a gen song or a previous single found a way to all work together. But of course one or two things can knock it off, it happens in all types of music.

Platinum 9 definitely had a distinct album theme but honestly the concert DVD found a way to tie all those songs better than album did it self.

Catching up on my new albums now, still haven't even gotten through Fantasy. Saving that for tonight.

Listening to these previews man and digging 3 of the tracks which is a great sign. And man I think they finally took the hint and updated the sound mix genres, they all sound current which is a great step forward.

Liking the 花束 track for that mix quality. And man I really am liking that Fake song, I hate the J-Rock genre and what not but there are ways for Maki do that type of genre and she is doing it pretty impressively with those vocal dynamics bouncing all over the place, the only thing it would be missing is a loud throaty Maki scream.

I'm kind of wondering of how the full アゲ♂曲 track is going to play out, it sounds wild (like Bigga Raiji willin wild) without all the shitty J-Rap..hopefully.

That is the best sound mixed and produced Musume album I've ever heard, it's ridiculous at points even. I'll need some more play throughs for a full review but I'm really happy first time through which almost never happens when I listen to records.

And Ai-chan's solo song is not a ballad song, I did a double take to see if she was accompanied in the song at all because her voice had the strength of 3 Musumes
