What kind of otaku cultures are you guys a part of? Anime/Manga, VN, and doujin games aren't the only "otaku" activity, just the most famous.

I'm mostly:

VN
Anime/Manga (Sakuga-fag + a bit of seiyuu interest)
Train (love riding and watching)
Video Games
Technology (/g/, basically)

I don't get:

Idol (3d PIG DI-, naw, I just don't get their appeal)
Fig (not worth it for me)
Cosplay/Maids (Unless they fit my image perfectly, I usually don't really like cosplay much)

Doujinshi Otaku. I like seeing what fan artists and programmers do with the source material. What keeps me interested is the anime and such every season, so I guess I'm by default an anime otaku just by keeping up with the source material.

Technology Otaku...I used to be, but not as much as I'd like to anymore. Can't keep up with the youngsters. Regardless I still sit at my computer about 8~20 hours a day like it's completely normal, so I guess some might consider me one. But that's everyone here, right, /jp/?

Nothing really makes me happier or more involved than a good visual novel, though. Comiket usually is the time twice a year I think "I'm really happy to be who I am.", though some weeks are more uplifting than others with some anime episodes.

Unlike most of /jp/ I like being who I am, but it's frustrating to be an otaku when responsibilities are in full charge (like right now, towards the end of college semester with no desire to do a ton of work when I'm getting ready to fucking hibernate and sleep 12~16 hours a day).

I guess this qualifies me as a sleep otaku as well. I think most Otaku's Op could never understand cosplay/celebrity obsession. This is because for the majority of us, well over a decade have been enamored by 2D love. Thus, we have associated 2D with the "fun" and "entertaining" things in life. If I look in a room, and there is 40 items, and one of them is a 2D poster, or a screen (TV or monitor) playing an anime, chances are that'll be the first thing that catches my eye - because that is normally directly related to my own happiness.
