just curious. what's your opinion on cosplayers. i'm going to a convention soon and i might cosplay as a FSN character.

Don't do it unless you're asian and you weight less than 120 lbs if you're a girl, and less than 180 if you're a guy.

Should probably go the safe route and not do it at all. I loathe western cosplayers with a passion. It's like they don't even bother. It's insulting to the character. The japanese cosplayers have it down to a T and oh yeah usually aren't fat and ugly.

Agreed, but if we're gonna go by weight here, I find that most (female) asian cosplayers just don't have the figure to match up to the characters' (when they try for the "sexy", very disproportioned ones). If you're gonna cosplay, put a lot of effort into it, and make sure it comes out decently.

If you cosplay, try to choose a character in which you have at least a partial ressemblance to.

That'll make it easier on the eyes and trust me, people WILL appreciate it.

I mean, if you're a fatass then cosplay as Andou or something. And if you're a thin as fuck NEET, then be my guess and go as Zero or any other faceless noodle people you can think of. Female fatty? Yajirobe! Small pimple-faced kid? Boy from Nadia. There's always something for someone. No need for 20 "L"s or clouds or some other shit.

For some reason cosplay simply attracts people who generate drama and gossip by having anything to do with each other. It's against the rules, but the mods in /cgl/ are worse than in /v/...

It's not THAT bad all of the time (ie. when American users are sleeping), but most of the time there are more threads about individual cosplayers ("so I heard this girl is a slut. any truth to that?") than characters and such.

Also ignore any weeaboo saying you have to be Asian to cosplay, but please try to look at least a little bit like your character. Any details of yourself would help if you want advice.

Asian cosplayers tend to shop their pictures even more than their Western counterparts. The people who praise them the most have never seen in one person.

I found a few pictures of some girl who cosplayed Saber and Rider at a Finnish con two years ago. I think Saber ended up winning the entire contest thing.

I love the shit out of the costumes and the photography when done right but I utterly abhor the drama associated with it and the fact that any normies you work with find out you go play dress up every now and then your social life is absolutely destroyed.
