I've been thinking about the usual complain from some of us. Why can't real girls dress nicer? Ditch the jeans and shirts, the slutty clothing and embrace older, classier clothing standards. Frills and skirts.

Have you personally made an effort to dress nicer? As a guy, do you go for classier items, dress a little better than jeans and a tshirt?

Personally, I've been trying to incorporate a casual tie with my everyday look. Sometimes it's embarrassing because you can feel people checking you out, but it feels good to make an effort to uphold the standards of 2D into a bit of the real world.

Would you care to share your views on this? Alternatively, Renko and Maribel/Well dressed touhou thread

I imagine it's because nicer-looking clothes cost more to acquire, are harder to maintain, and aren't necessarily as comfortable.

I'll admit that ironing is a bitch just to keep my shirts looking sharp. On the other hand, I didn't notice that much of a higher price (well, except this dressy coat that set me back $180), and, believe it or not, classy clothes are not only comfortable as fuck, but make you feel better overall.

I always ignored the whole fashion thing, just going with what feels comfortable at first, but a tie is surprisingly nice. Just an adjustment every now and then.

There was a girl at my high school who wore some pretty classy clothing. Very often she was the only person in the room wearing a dress, while all the other girls were wearing jeans. The outfit was also something nice, sometimes lots of pleats, colorful skirt, lots of bangles, some pretty tasteful hats. Although I can hardly remember any of it before.

Don't you dare sir. I get social anxiety as anyone here, I just like looking nice because it's the very standard I uphold for the rest of the 3d;pd. It would be hypocritical from my part to demand classier girls to maybe get into a relationship one day while dressing like a slob.
Probably why I'm still lonely, no girls up to my twisted standards.

Indeed. Since two years ago, I've begun wearing far nicer clothing than I did before. Previously, humorous t-shirts with khaki shorts and sandals.

Now, button-up dress-shirts, a nice leather belt, long pants (carpenter's pants = unbelievably comfortable and durable), and manly manly boots (picture).

I see it is fashion night here.

In a different thread I found out my winter attire of a flannel shirt and jeans makes me hipster. I used to always wear a button down shirt even in the summer, but lately I just wear a simple plain tee. It would be fun to dress like a 30's gangster though. Nice suit, hat, and gloves. Problem with that is Batman would kick my ass

Back when I cared about 3D I wished more women would wear skirts and dresses. Skinny jeans are so dull. Women have all those cute options to wear, but they pick the same generic shit.

Hmm... if I had to describe my usual evening wear, it would be shirt, tie, waistcoat, blazer, trousers, shoes with onyx and silver accessories onyx hair clip, onyx and silver cufflinks, silver watch and bracelet, black and silver go with most things.

I'm a sucker for black and white, they never go out of fashion and girls respond well to a snappy dresser always, in any country, a sharp look makes for an interesting man.

It's a pity I can only use this while couchsurfing though, how wild would it be to find a backpacker wearing that stuff?

I can assure you all dressing well attracts attention, what I can't assure you is whether it would be good attention, it's best to adopt a "haters gonna hate" approach when daring to be fabulous.

If you're not a hat person don't force it, my experience says anything that you don't feel comfortable wearing infront of a mirror should be left at the shop you're buying it from, instead work that hair! exciting? mysterious? serious? fun? all can be expressed with the way you weild that putty, spray, comb and wax!

I try my very best to be classy everyday. To be sloppy or look like shit makes me feel terrible, while looking good/being well dressed makes me feel great. Days I dress well never seem to suck, it's just that simple.

Adding a tie or a bow-tie to your outfit is a great way to make you feel just a bit more confident in yourself. It doesn't feel good too overdressed either, so it's never easy, but I to not bend for the whole "less is more" idea.

I wear anything reasonable I'd like to see in 2D and I don't wear anything I wouldn't like to see. I don't like jeans.

I live in the UK and I think wearing ties here is very common, especially seeing that both girls and boys are often made to wear ties as their school uniform. I wear ties a lot and nice shoes but I don't want to look too smart and look normal. It's also important not to look like you're wearing a school uniform either. I wear cufflinks and tiepins. I don't wear sports jackets because they either look like part of a school uniform or too formal. Loafers look like school uniform too. Same goes for black trousers.

Waistcoats are very hipster though, as are sleeveless jumpers, suspenders, some cases tweed, anything with a fairway or diamond design.

I like to wear brooches but I think maybe they're a bit too feminine... I like to pick flowers and put them on my person but I think that's a little too feminine too...

I buy all my clothes in charity shops too. I make sure to look in the women's area for clothes that might fit me because clothes in that area are always cheaper than those for men.

That all said, I only dress like that if I'm going out. I've started going out a lot more because, well, I've started volunteering in a charity shop and I also get a staff discount for that. I wear pyjamas all the time otherwise, unless I'm back from being outside and sometimes I'll just go to sleep wearing the outside clothes.

I'm sorry for typing so much... I enjoy dressing nicely but I've never really admitted it to anyone.

I think Koishi's hat is more flim. A straw hat is too firm... I think the problem with Koishi's hat is the bit that holds the head looks unnaturally large and flat. In reality, I don't think it would stay on your head. Cosplays usually go for a more round top. The rim is also unusually short but something like that could easily be cut off and sewn up. It's really more about looking for the right top.

Ties are nice (especially on girls) but they can very easily lean towards the hipsterish. It depends on what you wear them with. Stay away from trilbies, they give the wrong impression. In my opinion, a waistcoat looks odd when not worn with a jacket, but worst of all is one worn with a hat with no jacket in sight. If you wear a hat, take it off when indoors.

That's an absurd thing to say. Dresses and skirts always look good and to be honest, I see plenty of girls wearing skirts and dresses. Certainly not the frilly type that I like but they still do. They're very slutty too and tight around their behind... Don't wear anything like that... Over where I live, it's also very popular to wear things that are fairly ambiguous in terms of whether it's a jumper/shirt or a dress and girls where them as either. What I don't like also is that when wearing a dress they were these leggings that I find unattractive too...

Anyway, loads of girls wear skirts and dresses and loads of guys like them.

I used to dress modestly in long skirts and dresses, but I started to feel uncomfortable and just stopped wearing them all together in public. Girls gave me strange looks and sometimes men tried to hit on me. It's sad because when I used to go out my father would always comment and ask me if I was going on a date or something.
I wanted to dress for myself, but apparently that's not possible in this day and age anymore.
