Christianity and other religions are created by humanity and are therefore going to be inherently faulty. The majority of religions are less about spirituality or the worship of a higher being, and more about satisfying people's need to explain things that 'don't make sense' and/or herding a populace in a unified direction.

In my opinion, the myths and moral codes of human institutions have nothing to do with whether there is a god or not. If there is a god or a spiritus mundi or whatever, humans are far too simple to understand it.
