Are there any 16-bit era shmups that are danmaku-like?

I'd ask /v/, but... who wants to go on /v/?

>> No.6471632

They started in arcades, you know.

Touhou

Well if you don't like /v/ you can always go to their wiki.

Define "16-bit era". You're talking systems like the Genesis and SNES?

Fuck it, just find a Raiden installment and play that.

16-bit shooters entirely "lots of enemies and fast random bullets" type from what I can remember. I don't think you could do danmaku either on the resources of a 16-bit CPU. Gradius III's intro level has so bad lag on the SNES version.

Did the Genesis have anything other than R-type/Gradius coin munchers?

Yeah, basically SNES is what I meant. Home consoles, not arcade games.

>> No.6471681

If you mean on consoles, then not really. It was kinda hard to port them to the SNES and Genesis.

Thunder Force games and Gradius 3 were really good STGs anyways though.
