Idiots. This is how Touhou works, period. This is how ZUN wants it to work, and how he's told people it's supposed to work. Touhou is a massive worldbuilding project: ZUN is just one creator among many. Touhou is defined not by some "canon", but by the many works of its fans, ZUN included. When you make a doujin, you can pick and choose exactly how you want your Gensokyo to be: light and playful, grimdark and evil, or somewhere in between.

This is why, when Momiji and Daiyousei appeared in official works, and appeared *identically* to how fanon imagined them, nobody batted an eye -- well of course they appeared that way, that's just natural.

Now I agree that most western fanfiction is crap. Not all, but quite a lot of it. Now, sure, a lot of doujins are crap too, but the higher barrier to entry to creating doujins tends to filter out a good portion of the awful ideas.

Now stop generalizing your opinions on shitty fanfiction and applying it to the entire Touhou franchise, both Eastern and Western.

I've done some writefagging here before, though no real CYOAs.

1) Not going to extend that, that was just literally 3 minutes of writing for the purpose of making a fucking terrible pun (grass, etc). Even Asimov wasn't that bad with his Shah Guido G., etc.

2) CYOAs are kind of lame and uninteresting. I'd rather write a real story involving real Touhous (which I've done a few times), or have an RPG-style situation, in which the player or players are working to achieve some sort of goal, as opposed to running around Gensokyo stuffing their dicks in Touhous or some equally stupid wish-fullfilment.

Also, I've been working on a FATE-based Touhou RPG. Kinda.

I wrote a half-decent MokouxKaguya fanfic a while back. And no, I don't write porn, otherwise you end up with Ikea Erotica and other pathetic failures of fanfiction. Leave that to the doujins with, you know, pictures.

I wrote the first ~30 pages worth of a CYOA-style VN, which I gave up on when I realized it was rather bullshit.

Most of what I've written I've never published or finished, largely because I look at what I've written 2 days later, realize how crappy it was, and then don't want to post it anywhere. Writers are their own worst critics and all that.

(I also wrote some stuff before I discovered Touhou, such as a Haruhi fanfic back when it was still "OK" to like Haruhi, i.e. before it was commercialized into complete oblivion. I cannibalized a bit of my style from the Haruhi novels.)
