Which Touhou instalment has, in your own opinion, the best narrative appeal from a story standpoint ?

Let me clarify something for you, newfriend and beginner at English language. The word "which" implies that there are only two options from whom you can choose from. The word you should replace it with it "with" itself.

I deleted my post not because of being ashamed, but don't wanna spam the board. Either way, no, I'm right. See:

English Grammar Tests, Elementary Level

ESL/EFL Test #93 "Why Questions", answer 6

What year did Prince Charles of England marry?

Correct answer: (a) What

Your answer was: incorrect
Which year did Prince Charles of England marry?

>Would you please explain why not use 'which' instead of 'what' here?

We expect to use what in this question because, for the average reader, there is a wide range of years as possible answers. I myself have no idea as to what decade saw his marriage!

Which is normally reserved for the cases of two only or a very limited number of choices:

What time is it?
Which time is better for you, 2:30 or 3:30?

>very limited number of choices

Well, 17 is a limited number of choices. And the set of possible answers has been properly constrained to that number ("Touhou games") - limited in a literal sense of the word.

In fact, "which" SHOULD be used here, as "what" can also mean the question about the qualities of games. (E.g., "the GRIMDARK one" is the proper answer to the "what" question.)

There are a limited group of touhou games to choose from, which warrants use of "which". It doesn't have to be exactly 2, it just has to be in reference to a group of things.

You don't say "which time is it" because time isn't really a group, it's just infinite. Maybe if you were looking at a group of times, like a train timetable, you could say "which time on the board is for your train?"

Don't mean to shit up the board either, but if you're taking ESL it's useful info for you.
