I recommend starting with Perfect Cherry Blossom or Imperishable Night. (I like IN better, but PCB seems sort of easier. Try both.)

IN has easier mechanics (with Border Team you have like two seconds to deathbomb, and you can start with like 6 lives) but PCB has an easier game (you get far more bombs and lives through the course of the game) and they have about the same difficulty of bosses EXCEPT EIRIN IS A FUCKING NIGHTMARE
