What age range do you prefer in your husbando/waifu? Be serious. I mean in terms of physical body age, not "she's over a thousand year old even though she looks loli"! Are there age limits you wouldn't cross, at least idealistically? If a character that's otherwise appealing is over that limit, do you give up, accept it, or compromise and pretend they're younger than that? Seventeen~, ect.

The lower limit would probably be around 4 years of age.

The upper limit would probably be around 50 years of age.


I'd prefer if they're mentally sound (not senile or undeveloped), before this.

If a character is otherwise appealing in every way, the upper limit can rise but I probably cannot drop the lower limit while remaining comfortable.

My waifu is at least 20 (?) years old according to the disclaimer at the beginning of her game.

Realistically, she's more like 15 or 16 and has a similar body type. But most actual real-life girls around that age kind of look like whores, so this is strictly a 2D thing for me and I have no qualms about it.

Like any sane human, the optimal age for me would be basically when the body finishes maturing, that is, about 15-17.

In the absence of aging, that's what you'd look like forever. Which is why practically all Youkai look like older teenagers.

It's probably safe to assume that the following can control their appearances:

1. Gods (obviously)
2. Most Youkai

Then there's some gray areas ("probably not"):

1. Humans who became Youkai -- can Alice?
2. Youkai who are humanoid to begin with -- Patchouli?
3. Animal Youkai -- do they just have a human and animal form?
4. Youmu
5. Immortals (Kaguya, Mokou)
6. Western-derived "Youkai": vampires?

Well, the way I've always structured it has been as follows:

1. Except for humanoids, Youkai don't have default human forms. Depending on how grimdark your setting is, you can consider their default form to be spirits or Eldritch abominations of some sort. Either way, they're also genderless.

2. In Youkai society, it's considered very rude to impersonate others or otherwise take human forms other than the one that you've chosen. A Youkai deciding to change their chosen humanoid form is a "big deal" and rarely happens.

3. The current "in" fashion among Youkai is frilly dresses.

4. Therefore, Youkai are female because they want to wear frilly dresses.

Either around 10-12 or maybe in her thirties. Anything in-between that I don't really care for. If she's older, then I'd prefer her to be dere-dere. If she's younger, I'd like her to be sadistic or incredibly dere-dere like a younger sister or daughter. My tastes fluctuate quite a bit.

Right around the time puberty ends, so she's fully developed but doesn't have the adverse effects of aging. Anywhere in the teens is fine (well, probably past 13-14).
