Hey /jp/ I just got a copy of this because I see it so much around here. After reading text for about 15 minutes, I got bored.

I also tried out Sengoku Rance due to all the buzz, but just found it to be a crappy game with pornographic sequences. Also I didn't like it because I had no control over the social interaction, if Rance wanted to rape a chick, she was getting raped despite my will.

Kanon bored me to death because I had already seen the anime and knew the story.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I'm looking for a VN/Galge/Eroge whatever you wanna call it that lets me interact with it once in a while and isn't just rape shit. Can anyone help me out here?

Seems like VNs are not your kind of media. Sorry to hear that.
Try eroges like Sexy Beach or School Mate or something.

>> No.6394930

Ugh, what do you mean by "interact with it"?

Kira Kira takes a while to get interesting. (I also happen to be reading it as I type this.)
Fate/Stay Night is long as hell but is awesome.
I can't really think of any VNs that are fully "interactive"; that just isn't how they work. If you don't have the patience to sit down with a regular novel IRL, you won't enjoy VNs.

>> No.6394946

Don't get in to VNs expecting a "game." They are more like books, hence visual "novel." This is where you messed up.

>> No.6394955

There actually used to be those kind of games, in the 90s. Games like 3 Sister Story where you have real choices on where to go. They mostly stopped doing those kind of games because they were tedious and boring for most parts. Another one that's been on /jp/ the last few days/weeks is "God of Death", but from how you sound you probably can't read moon so that's not an option.

>Can anyone help me out here?
nope. You're getting into them for the wrong reasons, just to fit in /jp/. If you don't like either Rance's gameplay or Kira Kira script, I'd guess eroge isn't for you. Don't feel obliged to play them.

>> No.6394971 [DELETED]

Right, I guess I should clarify. Kanon was the kind of thing I was looking for. You know how you get to make descisions every now and then that changes the scene/path/dialog? That's what I was looking for. I wasn't really looking for a "game."

Sorry, I'm a newfag at this and my terminology might be a bit off. What is it that I'm really looking for? An R18 Galge? An Eroge? I was under the impression that VNs had different "paths" and that those "paths" were chosen by decisions you made along the way.

Also, I played 3 Sister Story a long time ago. I actually liked that one and played through it 5 times getting 5 different endings.

>> No.6394974

It sounds more like you want a WRPG eroge.

Give Kira Kira some time, you might end up liking it. On the other hand, you might not like the setting/story, in which case find something that interests you or a particular fetish if you just want to masturbate.

>> No.6394984

OP here, guess I'm confused on the terminology because I was under the impression that VNs had paths, so I assumed decision points.

Something like Kanon would be up my alley, the reason that one bored me is because I saw the anime and knew the story already.

if your attention span is 15 minutes you aren't going to find many games that have paths before that

You will make choices in most VNs. Each girl usually has a route. But, the interation is minimal for the most part. Like choosing to help out at a student meeting or going to work early etc. The decision may effect the outcome in various ways.

VNs can have paths, but don't have to.
Common beginner VNs with paths would be something like yume miru kusuri, kana imouto, crescendo, tsukihime and maybe ever17 or something.

>> No.6394995

>>6394984
Hmm, then what VN genre do you want to play? Drama, Romance, Comedy, Action, Mystery, etc?
>path
I think you mean "route"
And keep playing Kira Kira, it's a great game, you'll end up liking it, just try to put up with the prologue.

Well, KiraKira is pretty much the same game for all 3 girls for about 6-8 hours or something, though.
Only after that the routes start to split, so I guess I can see where he's coming from.

OP again, thank you, this give me something to go off of.

As for other comments, I played 3 Sister Story a long time ago and I actually liked it. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for with maybe a little bit less porn involved.

No, I'm not just trying to fit in at /jp/ I'm not using a trip or looking for notiriety, just looking for something that I think I could enjoy.

Yes I am a beginner at this sort of thing. However Rance and Kanon had some sort of interaction very early on. Once again, it may be a case of terminology but I was under the impression that VNs had a little bit more interaction in general.

>> No.6395057

VNDB describes Three Sisters Story (which I didn't really like)'s gameplay as "Interactive Adventure Game" or "Western Style Adventure Game." More games of this type at http://vndb.org/g350

>>6395034
When it comes to translated VNs there's only few ones that come without sex, because those are the ones that attract the most crowd.
Few examples would be Clannad, Symphonic Rain.

>> No.6395331

Type Moon VNs (Tsukihime and Fate Stay Night) do have choices quite often, but in reality choosing the wrong one will get you killed about 10 minutes later, usually. Still better than most though.

Play Saya no Uta and if you get bored of it after an hour then go back to shitty western games.
